We should go into every season aiming to win the title and reach the Champs League final.

We dont at the moment.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There speaks someone totally spoilt by the SAF era
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nonsense.

Its nothing to do with being spoilt. Its do with with a club of our stature and resources.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
there a lot of teams in the prem now that can spend as much as you. stature in this day and age means nothing. scouting and good management means a lot more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who can spend as much as us?

Instead of bashing the manager at every opportunity, try enjoying the ride and actually try looking past the end of your nose
——-

But isn’t that what you’re doing? (The nose bit)

Seeing the results rather than the consistency or style of play? It seems that’s what the board are doing. If they could see past the end of their nose they’d see someone like Poch won’t wait around forever and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at Chelsea once they (probably) sack Frank.

I do see past the end of my nose just as I did when Klopp was available back in 2015 and people were like ‘no, we need to stick with LVG’.

There’s only so many of these very good managers around and if we miss out on Poch, well, it would sum up our club to a tee.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah yes.. poch.. the man who has built his legacy winning absolutely nothing
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you really think that sums up the man then you need to do your homework. I could just as easily say that Ole built his legacy getting sacked with Cardiff in 16th place in the championship.

Poch is a much better manager than that. We had serial trophy winners in LVG and Jose. What we need is someone who can work wonders with players and Poch is that guy. He built an exceptional Spurs team who sadly for them had a lot of their momentum taken away by a combination of moving to Wembley at their peak and zero money spent on the squad for 500+ Days.

Bayern, Real, Juve. None of these clubs would settle for going into a season content with a top 3 finish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are those leagues as competitive as the premier league?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, which is why I said top 3 rather than top 6.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really are a fecking moron.

Real and Barcelona, Juventus and inter, Bayern and Dortmund... the teams you are listed are basically all in leagues with 2 teams that consistently battle it out for the league.

Its have city, liverpool, spurs and Chelsea all pushing towards the top of the table nearly every season
---------------------------------------------------------------------
You are the moron if you cant differentiate between aiming and expecting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You e only got to look at your history to see the kind of "fan" you are... that is why everyone thinks you're a muppet
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone. Haha. The world is a big place kid. The opinion of a couple of nobheads on the internet doesn't matter anything to me.

The problem is a large part of our fans are conservative fans who are always satisfied with the status quo, no matter how unacceptable it is.

He turned Southampton into a strong team in a matter of weeks ; he turned Spurs into an established top three team with no support from his board, and reached the Champions League final ; he understands modern football and knows what high press really means ; he is tactically mature and can change the course of a game completely ; he is not eager to please the British media, so would most probably give the armband to Bruno and would exclude James from the squad.

I mean yeah. We really been spoilt the last 7 years. If you ask the other 19 premier league clubs. Do you want to swap Ole with your manager. Not one would swap. Ole is winning nothing with United. But some of our fans are so blinding because he used to play for us. How many would be happy if Dwight Yorke was our next manager.

posted on 25/10/20

The comments that you would lay off Ole don't even survive a month despite the very good result in Paris, despite your efforts to belittle it, and à so so result against Chelsea.
Your comments about Poch are pretty accurate I think, and that he would do a good job for us, though not as good as Klopp.
The only comment about Poch I find amusing is he improved Southampton in a few weeks, the previous manager had done an arguably better job, and left a good squad.
My thoughts are that we don't know how good Ole can be, he earned this season, and then we judge again.
But the criticisms of Ole, stated or implied, are often overstated. Last season he did a decent to good job, and has every chance of bettering it this season.

I don't think we have progressed at all under Ole, despite significant spending. We still look like a team who will be in a battle to scrape 4th, zero chance of challenging for the title, and little chance of winning the champions league.

So basically what we have been since Fergie left. I still cannot fathom have he has ended up with one of the biggest jobs in managerial football, with his lack of cv.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Posts like this make me laugh.

You make it sound like we've spent an absolute bomb and teams around us haven't spent a penny.

Teams like spurs and Chelsea have also spent money, and both had squads with players that worked well together, and we were light years behind liverpool and city pre ole, so of course we are scrapping for top 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt we will finish top 4 this year.
We are still light years behind liverpool and city.

We have spent a significant amount on absolute band average players.

Look at put first 11. How many of them would get into liverpool or Citys teams? Zero is probably the answer.

Considering Ole has basically improved our squad quality while steadily removing deadwood from the team, maybe you should ask just how poor we have been the past 6-7 years.

People like Robb have a vendetta since Jose left, the others are the ones who came in when we where at our best and just cant understand that it takes time to turn around teams like ours especially with the ownership structure we have here.

Ole deserves a full season. He may relegate this team but it will be unquestioned he will leave us with a better foundation than any manager has left us with (Fergie included). If and when that great manager you all know is out there comes, he will have no excuses.

Till then, Ole's at the wheel. Deal with it.

Ron we easily beat Man City in both league games last season and if Phil Jones hadn't played, we most likely would have knocked them out the cup.

posted on 26/10/20

Ron I don't think that Liverpool squad is even that good. They just have a winning mentality. Last season Liverpool lost the least games and Man Utd the 2nd least games. Both had near identical stats but one team finished on 99 points and the other on 66 points. We threw away points in games we should have won nearly every other week. Liverpool won games they could easily have drawn or lost.

Perfect example, the Chelsea game. We completely nullified them and had the chances but missed. We must have 10 draws like that last season were we were the better team in the league but failed to win.

posted on 26/10/20

Interesting that in our first 2 home games we conceded as many goals at home as we did in LVG final season 19 home league games. Crazy when you think of it like that. I used to find it funny when they kept saying LVG was the boring manager when teams did what Inter Milan did at the Nou Camp in 2010 nearly every game at OT and LVG was considered the boring one. That is one of the reasons why we conceded 9 home games that season as everyone tactics were to put 11 players inside own box for 90% of the game as LVG would be the one being trolled.

posted on 26/10/20

I mean 9 home league goals.

OGS has won the CL and PL as a player and knows what it takes. Poch hasn't. In fact Poch has never won a trophy as a manager while OGS has won many in an unfancied side.

I find it laughable that certain United 'fans' want Poch in at Old Trafford. He's never won a single thing as a manager. To be totally fair to Ole, he has won 2 league titles and a domestic cup already as a manager and everything else as a player.

Poch is potless! Makes no sense.
