Nearly 75% of people in this country, currently claim some sort of benefits, a number that will no doubt increase in the coming months.
The vast majority of those claiming benefits are working.
Over 95% of people in this country, who have claimed housing benefit in the last 2 years, are working, due in no small part to the lack of social and affordable housing being built.
Benefits in the most part are paid to subsidise low pay, a low pay and gig economy that has been encouraged by those in government.
But beyond that, this thread isn't really worth getting involved in, due to the massive levels of ignorance and stupidity contained within it.
So have fun. πŸ™‚

Imagine inventing the suicide of someone just to wum a bunch of strangers. Please delete your account and your ignorant opinions on things.

No idea if it’s what he’s referring to, but this shows that it has happened.

You really shouldn’t assume you know everything about everyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s not it but you’re right even if Robb is correct; you shouldn’t presume.

A guy who joins the site today just hours after wum-in-chief Culer gets banned and does a deliberately provocative post claiming things like suicide - I’m smelling a rat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I got the logic but it turns out that you were wrong in this instance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How am I wrong?

He’s posted who he was talking about. I guess he could have googled that as part of big lie but that’s quite a stretch for me.

Could be wrong, but I don’t think this is Culer. You’re just blindly accusing him of making up a persons suicide with nothing to back yourself up with. That in itself is pretty fecked up.

And his answer is that we must all cough up for other people's children. However much we are all struggling ourselves.
---------------------------------------
People really need to have a bit of a read on how taxes work before coming out with rubbish like this.

I mean I'm no expert on it all myself but really, this is fecking basic stuff.

I have removed the reference to the ex-colleague. Can we please not reference this as I do feel ashamed I used use.
My point still stands though.

Admin, please delete this post if not allowed but please leave the thread going.
Enough with the "ban this". Cancel culture. Some posters on this thread disagree with me which is entirely their right but want to shut down discussion because it doesn't fit with their world view.
Shame on you. How arrogant to assume your opinion trumps mine.
I can post a link if you force me to but I'd rather you took my word for it. David White RIP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, you’re not a new poster then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
?? Yes I am a new poster. Happy to PM my details. I have nothing to hide.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well as a first post it was argumentative, disagreeable, arrogant, but otherwise poor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re coming across as pretty arrogant yourself, acting as if everyone has to have the same view as yourself, and if they don’t then they’re wrong.

No I didn’t mean Culer. I meant that the story the OP mentioned is legitimate. It doesn’t matter if it was 2011 or last week.

Well, he said in the Op that the guy killed himself due to the stresses brought on by the budgets due to covid. Perhaps he meant swine flu.

It’s got to be given at this point. Changes might be needed going forward such as vouchers as mentioned previously as for every pound that is used ‘fraudulently’ is taking away from those in genuine dire need.

To clear this up, suicide was due to pressure of cost reduction and constraints .Which is why I linked it and why Rashford is wrong when he thinks he knows better than the government and all local authorities on how our money should be spent. My point is that it's easy for people like Rashford and Lineker to make grand standing gestures when they don't have to pay the nation's bills.
I say again, shameful that I used a tragedy to back up my point and I have removed all references.

Fair enough, I’ll take you on your word.

But don’t forget all the suicides and misery caused by austerity and what Rashford is doing is necessary and your OP completely misses the point.

£2,000,000,000 was defrauded by companies during the initial furlough scheme.
£12,000,000,000 was spent on a failed track and trace system.
£450,000,000 was wasted on a ventilator challenge scheme.
£50,000,000, was wasted on unusable PPE.
But hey, god forbid we can't account for every penny spent making sure children have at least one decent meal a day. πŸ™‚

Only a proper caant could twist doing something nice for others as a bad thing. This whole 'virtue signalling' narrative is a facking cancer on society. It's people being nice to each other FFS. The only reason it's been given a label is because hateful people can't understand why others would be nice with no self interest. If you've seriously got a problem with the idea that the government should feed hungry children there's something deeply wrong with you.

OP you should be ashamed.

I imagine it would be a lot easier for those two people to say nothing.
And I also imagine both their tax bills per year, are more than what you would probably pay in a lifetime.

Yup and heads should roll for those errors too.

“The figure may well be a lot less than you thought, but it's still a lot of money. In 2015-16, total spending on benefits was £172.3bn, which means that £1.9bn was fraudulently claimed“

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/election-2017-39980793

So it’s also a lot of money, don’t be so reductive. I’ve already said it needs to be paid.
