OP you are a moron and need to get better informed.
I've not read the other posts so sorry this has been said. But it is absolutely the government's job to fund this and make sure the poorest are fed. They have spent £12b on the failed trace and trace system that is an obscene amount of money. £1b of which was on the app alone which should have cost few hundred thousand. They have paid 30% higher prices for PPE contracted to donors and friends of the party relative to other suppliers. The government s spending money on the wrong things and most definitely needs to be held accountable to what the voters are demanding. a few million to feed the vulnerable kids in our country is not something that needs to be fought for, it is something that there should b a natural consensus for. Exempt our government is concerned about pleasing their inner circle and their pockets.

I don't get right wingers. They complain when the rich are taxed more and now a rich person who was poor became rich, they want him to donate 95% of his wages. And they say the left don't like people making a success of themselves.
Can we all agree that we should ensure all hungry children get fed AND that parents receiving benefits should be made to spend it responsibly?

Henning Wehn says in one of his sets that in Germany they don't like giving money to charities as they see charities as a dereliction of the governments duties. Here we see charities as the major option, mainly because people don't want to see others receive a benefit they won't receive regardless of the fact they will always be better off.

As a general principle no child should go hungry, that's a given
Where the discussion gets emotional is in the how. In the scheme of things we have a welfare state that makes provision. That HAS to be the starting point.
As I have previously highlighted I went frim a position of wealth to one of poverty for a shirt while. I had fee meds, free school dinners for the kids and money. Even got free milk for a baby and free nappies for a disabled child.
Unless this has changed a child should have the basic necessities at home

Most people on this forum will only be a few months from the bread line. I felt it at the beginning of the year when my wife lost her job. We had very little help from the government (think it was £50 per week) and had to use our savings to cover things for a few months until she found work again.
The greatest achievement of neoliberalism, is to make people think they are loads different to those beneath them. The fact is that any of us can end up there with some poor luck and those chances are increased during a global pandemic.
This is why those advocating not helping, blaming the parents or saying social services should be involved are completely out of touch with their own vulnerabilities.
Children must have free school meals, that is a given.
As much as we should help out the homeless, in most cases they are always capable of helping themselves, no matter how tough it is. No child should go hungry, at home, at school or ever really. Unfortunately, there will be some children out there where the only meal they will get a day will be at school.

Children shouldn't be going hungry, but the anger on this thread should be directed at the parents.
No matter what the situation all parents receive a raft of benefits, tax credits, child support etc.
Feeding their children should be priority number one, those that don't are not fit to parent imo.

Then it’s about looking at why their parents can’t feed them.
It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a populist Conservative government and their bootlicker supporters to starve one 🤷♂️

Children shouldn't be going hungry, but the anger on this thread should be directed at the parents.
No matter what the situation all parents receive a raft of benefits, tax credits, child support etc.
Feeding their children should be priority number one, those that don't are not fit to parent imo.

Can we all agree that we should ensure all hungry children get fed AND that parents receiving benefits should be made to spend it responsibly?

Sounds good to me....

You’re assuming they don’t, why is your starting point to think the worst of people?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The starting point is feeding the kids
Then it’s about looking at why their parents can’t feed them.

It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a populist Conservative government and their bootlicker supporters to starve one 🤷♂️
