Fred really does divide opinion. Some don't rate him. Others on social media think he's world class. Then people like myself think his off the ball work is really good, but needs to improve his passing.

For £50m, he needs to "learn to shoot and pass accurately"?

Been a poor signing and a waste of money.
Running around being energetic isnt what we expected or paid for.

He is very good at doing the donkey work, has good interception skill and can run for the full 90 mins. However, I don't think he will ever be more than what he has already shown though. Besides, Fred is a living proof that a player doesn't need to pass or shoot accurately, score or assist goals, have good vision or dectate games to be a great player

Pass accurately? Out of 1704 passes last season he completed 88% of them.

The myths pedalled about Fred get funnier and funnier, it's almost as if people are watching the match thread more than the actual game.

Fred is a great player.

Assisted Rashford and played the ball to Martial for the penalty. Also won the ball back and fed Pogba for the first goal.
That said some of his passing in the first half was infuriating

You can clearly see how many minutes each player, played at the top of the charts, so you didn't really need to read the comments.

This is also the calculated average.

Pros:

Dynamic, good work rate, seemingly good mentality

Cons:

Gives the ball away too easily, gives away silly fouls, poor marking, pretty awful at everything in the final third.

He’s a decent workhorse. If he can improve his distribution he would be a good asset.

Squad filler.

Works his socks off but no real quality on the ball.

He does need to work on his passing but I don’t really care about his shooting, that’s not his job.

What he does brilliantly is press and pressure the opposition and win the ball back. He puts in one hell of a shift and you need players like that in the team to allow the more creative players to flourish.

Not every player needs to be Ronaldo or Messi.

The big question.

Is he better than Naby Keita?

Well Keita is a mix of Iniesta and Messi is he not?

Useful player to have in the squad, but wouldn't pin our hopes on him being good enough to be first choice long term in one of the midfield spots.

He's frustrating because he'll be playing well, breaking up play, moving the ball nicely, then just has a 5 minute spell where he literally passes it to the opposition 2 or 3 times under no pressure. Weird.

four of the five goals last night involved him. three directly from him winning the ball and then starting the attack and another from good position to receive the ball and release Rashford. I thought he was great last night for the most part. What is probably getting on peoples nerves is that he also gave the ball away alot whether after receiving a pass or winning the ball. In a game like yesterday when he did it so many times and half worked that is fine. However in game when he gets far fewer opportunities to start an attack then his pass accuracy needs to be much higher. Regardless of his wastefulness he was MOTM for me. Yes Rash was excellent too, but Fred provided the foundation for the rest of the team to perform.

He’s a very good player. Just needs to learn to keep things simple. Should leave long range passing and shooting to other players.

Fred has had three really good games on the bounce. While Rashers gets the plaudits Fred was our man of the match last night.

Sorry mate. Put too much faith in people reading the post and then commenting about it.

In terms of my opinion on Fred, despite what the stats say, I would like him to improve his forward passing game and certainly shooting. He works hard but it’s a sad indictment of where we have been these last few years that we actually mention working hard as anything but a given.

Good squad player and will be useful against certain opposition where he and McT are needed.

I am fred's biggest critic but eve I can admit he had a good game

and there is a good reason. Play fred as par of a holding dm 2 and the team will suffer from lack of creativity. Especially if the #10 has a poor game.

As part of a diamond fred was able to carry out his destroyer role with the cover of matic/mcT in dm and the creativity of pogba and VDB/bruno in the more creative positions

He did make the keeper save a good shot as well!
