That is really sad news. Hope he still enjoys the rest of his life.

Probably the main reason I became a Manchester United supporter in the 60s.

Most of my school yard buddies ran around wanting to be Georgie - can't blame them - but I was always Bobby Charlton.

Nothing I can add that'll be any different from most other contributors. But I'm sure we all wish him well.

Just hope the Man Utd squad do him proud.

Horrible disease. Sadly there is not much you can say because there is no cure.

Booby didn't do heading.

I think Bobby must have only ever headed a football once.

And that was in a European Cup Final.

I too IamMe. After Munich he became my hero, carried the flag onwards so to speak.
Plus he was an attacker with verve, plus the best shot of any player I have seen?
I didn't want the combover mind. I have achieved his later look though.
Sad news.

Sad news. It's a horrible thing. I'm not surprised though as I recognised some of the early signs when you see him on TV. Nearly exactly the same as my grandad.

The ability and power in his 'shooting', with both feet, was awesome.

But so was his footwork.

But of course, not only was he a phenomenal player but a great asset for promoting decency in both the game and in life.

Terrible news, hope he still manages to live on a long numbers of years.

Linked to old leather ball heading?

It's bound to do damage.

That's true actually.

Not heading.

Lost mum in law to dementia and cancer two weeks back and losing your mind is just cruel.

Good luck bobby

On the back of Nobby's news too.

Sir Matt and Sir Alf told Nobby to break down their play, win the ball... and give it to Bobby Charlton.

sad news, horrible illness

Sad news. I had the pleasure of spending a morning with him and his wife a few years ago and they were very kind and humble people.

I wish him nothing but the best

My mother in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease around 2 years a go, her decline from a fully functioning adult to no more than a child mentally is hard to watch. Both that and dementia are such awful diseases, I wish Bobby all the best. What a player.

Very sad news. A legendary player and a true gent!

Would not wish anyone with that awful disease. It has such an impact on the family as well and not just the person who has it.

Best wishes to them all
