History is a gift that we can learn by it's mistakes.
We don't have to live by History's mistakes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not history of it's still happening
My old man was a kid when the 'troubles" over Kashmir happened. He recalls playing to hide from the dogras, only it wasn't a game. When he sees news stories about what's happening currently brings it all back
My mum gets stick in this society cos she can't read or write. "This day and age" even my colleagues say. Losing your mother at 3/4 years old and not having any schools because it wasn't a priority doesn't sink in with folk
Lest we forget is not just a November thing for some folk

That's the problem with History. It is usually happens before your time. And then you have to deal with it.
You are rambling on now and taking this thread far away from the original OP.
I'm out.

Fair enough fella.
My point was just because it was before my time it doesn't mean it was before everyone else's. The examples of my parents was to highlight that I may have grown up here and not seen any of the troubles but to them it was real and it's happening again

Because the British ruled it at the time. Without them Pakistan would have never existed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That wasn't the discussion. I was responding to a specific point
However arguably without the British there wouldn't have been need for a Pakistan to exist.
I don't see a Pakistan as a victory. I see India being divided as a loss. A big loss

We are going to enter the if and buys of, but if the British weren't there someone else would be, or if the spread of Islam didn't happen, blah, blah, blah. So its best we leave that part of the discussion.
Kashmir as many parts of the world that are disputed, will never be resolved until parties are willing to let the past be consigned to history and a future plan devised.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
India had a history of people coming in and even Kashmir being owned by the sikh maharaja was after it was taken from afghans. So yeah I do believe others would have come in. However I do believe others came to settle and not strip off resources and leave a divide and rule principle.
The question on Kashmir is simple. The independence of it would resolve many issues or even going back to the original deal and let people vote. What's not acceptable is the current siege and murder happening. Why there is silence on the issue is my biggest grievance
But then haven't we heard it all before?

Tbh, you have heightened awareness of it because of your family, as I'm sure there are other divides in the world we know little about. People generally know what is relevant to them and little outside of that. Just the way it is. 🤷♂️

Yeah that is true. The previous PM of Kashmir or opposition leader as he is known was a relative and current one is a family friend.
I have an uncle who is heavily involved in Kashmir politics. Lives in Belgium and is regularly doing the rounds in Parliament etc raising the plight of the kashmiris

Stick to sucking off Trump you pile of human waste.
It says a lot about the community on this webpage that this comment can go totally unnoticed, even after implicating innocent people who had nothing to do with the attacks.
