Ole and Ba's goal

Did the keeper not alert someone? if not, why not?

posted on 5/11/20

Why didn't he tell someone to mark Ba while he was stood all on his own in the centre circle? He's either tactically inept or he's lost all control of what his players do on the pitch. Or both I guess.

posted on 5/11/20

Yes, I think the problem was that our defenders didn’t know Ba couldn’t be offside in his own half.

You’ve cracked it.

Matic was marking Ba at the set piece and lost his man.

Phelan was at the touch line telling Matic Ba was behind him and he paid no attention, so not sure what the OP is on about.

Ridiculous that the most experienced guy in the team let himself and the team down so badly...

Maguire is a disgrace, as captain and CB how can he leave the defence knowing that nobody else is there! He is Southend level

What a load of boll0cks, from that position it should be Matic and Maguire organising the defence.

Ole can leave his job with honor, unlike the likes of Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho.

He has on several areas done a excellent job, cleaning out the deadwood, some good perfomances leaving us 3rd in the league.
Recent performances has been far behind our standard, and people start screaming for Ole's head.

That beeing said, our over all performances in 101 matches under Ole, it's not United quality. But neither was it under Moyes, Van Gaal or Mourinho. So our "new standard" is over us, the last decade hasn't been great.

So..

I think the lack of good alternatives on the managerial front is the issue for us, and I'm not convinced about our over all management, coaches, assist manager and so on.. This will take time to rebuild, and for me a Sporting Director is still the most important thing to bring in first.

For me Pochettino is not the answer to our problems. (at least not alone)

He could have stopped the second goal too if he’d stood on the touch line and told the defenders to do a tackle and ddg to do a save.

Hopefully he’s reading your managerial nuggets

Wouldn’t surprise me if Ole told DDG to make a save.

Would people on here still want him in a job if he did?

Disappointed Ole didn’t bring down Ba outside the box to be honest.

It would have been an odd thing to request of DDG, given Henderson was in goal.

United fans are suckers for pain, agony and same old same old, so Ole is their favourite

What a stupid thing to say, Ole has done better!

Please keep him at the wheel, we are just "jealous" of him

Mike Phelan was stood on the sideline telling Matic to get back. Not that it should have been required anyway

I genuinely think some United fans love Ole like he's their own son. It's cute but tragic at the same time.

How many United fans on here are old enough to be Ole's Dad?

Not me.

I love Ole like a cousin.

Not in a weird way you must understand. In a normal way. A normal amount. The normal amount for a cousin.

If Manchester united players need to be told how to organise the defence during set pieces, we really are in bigger trouble than I thought. You figure this out at secondary school football

Tonight's first goal could have been avoided if Ole had been standing on the touchline as most managers do. He could have alerted his players to the fact that Ba was not offside : he couldn't be offside in his own half. Instead Ole prefers to sit passively in the stands to watch replays. That most of our fans still defend him is beyond me.
-------
Not sure why he's not just on the pitch tackling players either.

Mourinho always does:
