It's difficult to know what to do against Wolves. Their style seems very much to be about allowing teams onto them and then counterattacking, and they're very disciplined with that to the point of accepting a lot of draws. If we play the same way then it screams out 0-0 draw.
Formation wise, I wouldn't be surprised to see us continue with 3 at the back, particularly if Evans isn't available and we only have Fofana as an out-and-out CB. (Aside from Morgan, but it looks accepted that he only plays bit parts these days.)
But overall the tough question seems to be one of when, or if, we should start pushing up the pitch ourselves. There is an argument for maintaining consistency of style leading into the Liverpool match and a low scoring match or indeed a 0-0 draw if that's how things need to be.
With the injury’s in defence Rodgers won’t play anything but 5 right now I would think. Imagine if we still had chilwell and no Forfana in that 5 😱
I think we’ll play exactly the same as last night. Sit deep for periods in a back 5 and then counter press for spells and when we’ve drawn Wolves out.
Like pretty much every league game recently I can’t predict this. I can see any result being possible.
Think we’ll play it tight. Might end up being another Arsenal. Would take 1-0!!!
Would happily take one nil, and go into break top of league.
We did have some luck last night, hope we not used it all up.
Shame fans cant go, trip to Wolves usually good, apart from 4-3 defeat.
Happy memories of Walsh and Bull giving each other hard time!!
Worried about this game for 2 reasons.
We're at home and it's Wolves, who are possibly one of the most defensive teams in the league, which we tend to struggle against.
Yes should have realised at home!!
All getting rather confusing!!
I think this one will end 2-2.
But would be great to win this game
Then go up to Anfield for a league topping
decider.
Expect him to continue with 3-4-3 and think Evans will play.
I think he will bring Praet back in for this one and wouldn’t surprise me if Barnes and/or Maddison started on the bench
Imagine:
Kasper
Justin
Fuchs
Fofana
Evans
Albrighton
Mendy
Tielemans
Praet
Barnes/Maddison
Vardy
Personally I think Praet is a better option than Maddison in 3-4-3.

Not sure about Maddison in a 3-4-3?
I don’t think you’ve mentioned that before.

😂
I’m not saying he can’t do it. I just think other players are better at it. Just like Maddison is better than them in the number 10 role. Praets work rage and better ability to press from the front make him more suited to the task.
In a midfield 5, Maddison is one of the first on my team sheet.
Is it just me - I always think we play badly in a game before an international break. I always dread them.
To be honest, Maddison is a 343 is really an offset of 352 if it’s Barnes and Vardy up top
What formation is that KTF?
Rough heat maps of what I’d expect to see.
When we defend deep:
Albrighton Fofana Evans Fuchs Justin
————Tielemans Mendy
—————— Maddison
————Vardy————-Maddison
When we attack directly:
——Fofana Evans Fuchs
Albrighton-Tielemans-Mendy-James
—————-Maddison
——————Vardy———Barnes
When look to flood them:
—Fofana —- Evans—Mendy—-Fuchs
———————Tielemans
Albrighton———Maddison———Justin
————-Vardy————-Barnes
When we look to build through passing moves:
—-Fofana ——Evans——Fuchs
——————Mendy———-—-
Albrighton—Tielemans— Justin
————-Maddison
———————————-Barnes
——————Vardy
I think Rodgers has shown that he does adapt tactics to games but I think he will also be wary, if we are to genuinely cement a place in the ‘top 6’, of having a main identity through a formation. From a psychological perspective to build confidence in us as a force to be reckoned with rather than purely adapting to other teams strengths and weaknesses and also because it provides a unity and whole squad ethos of - “this is what we are doing, get to know it and prepare yourself to be part of it when needed” - which I think is extremely important when we are going through periods of injuries/being reliant on youngsters...already, I think we have seen this and reaped the benefits.
I’d be shocked if, even after the return of Soyunchu, Ndidi, Ricardo and Castagne, we steered away from this now ... in fact, I think it lends itself perfectly to those players coming back.
I’m never really one to tempt fate or become too optimistic, but our first 11 on paper and (hopefully, fingers crossed) performing at optimum is a top 4 team at present.
Ricardo has the potential to be one of the best right backs in Europe and is currently (based on his form prior to injury) - top 3 in the league.
Evans Fofana and Soyunchu, for me, would potentially be unrivalled outside of Liverpool’s first choice defensive choices
Castagne looks brilliant
Ndidi is the best defensive midfielder in the country
Maddison is one of the best creative midfielders in the country
Vardy is one of the best strikers in the country
Good times
I think you’re right KTF but I am interested to see if Ndidi can slot in alongside Tilly as well as Mendy does. He’s always struggled in a two in the past, although Tielemans will be slightly more forward thinking.
I still expect us to leverage a back 4 when we play teams with less of a threat on the counter and when we want to impose our own game on them.
Definitely looks good at the minute. Rodgers has this set of players playing very well. Top work from him.
We will win..... Simples.
I do not think wolves or Liverpool want to play us right now.
What is there set who playing for them?
We do not know but the ba$$tards keep winning all of a sudden!
