One of the silliest and most overused

Is it an overused phrase? I think on your recent articles people are just providing caution. Like spurs have a possibility to win the league, they also have a possibility of not winning it. You seem to think its a foregone conclusion.

It's just a lazy argument people throw out. Winning experience can help sure, but it's only one facet of a team's make up. They used to say we'd never get top 4, or finish above Arsenal, and we've done those things.

Over used? I've literally never heard or read anyone saying that

Liverpool had not won the league in what? 30 years. Most of their team were not even born and Klopp had his own teeth.

Just because LFC had won the title 19 times before, didnt make it more likely they would win last season.

Experience helps and in that respect we have quite a bit - World cup winners, Champions League winners, Title winners, Peace Cup winners

I actually think experience is one of the most overrated qualities in football.

Obviously it’s possible we could win the prem, I think the notion that we can’t is partly because City and Pool are the main contenders, and also because we have a recent history of surrendering promising positions.

It’s up to the players and manager to prove people wrong on this, not the other way round. Until that happens, people will remain sceptical.

Note: that doesn’t mean I think think we should win it this year to prove people wrong. I personally think we will finish 4th and that that’s currently the level we’re at.

The media is full of agenda driven mugs, who will habitually use phrase like this when they see threats to their favourite clubs` entitlements on the horizon.

They have to play down the chances of other clubs, for fear of hindering the chances of their darling clubs. Certain clubs are talked up no matter what, regardless of common sense, they have agendas to promote.

You will get those question marks until you show you can do it. Chelsea in the 00s, City early 10s and Liverpool recently all through the year or so leading up to them starting winning stuff were subject to the same scrutiny so it's not some big conspiracy.

If you want to dine on the fact you think you'll win something because "Mourinho is a serial winner" then you can't really complain about the question marks regarding your squad of players who despite their high quality have yet to prove they can hold their nerve in domestic cups let alone the league.

Not that you can't, it just becomes a lot more difficult due to the mental aspect of it. If you had a 3 point lead going into the final game over Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea, I would fancy those latter teams to win the title over Spurs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well you don`t know that for sure do you. Not like Spurs have never won the league.

Not really to do with nerve though is it. Both Chelsea and City elevated themselves to the trophy table because of the money. Take that away from those two clubs, and Spurs probably would have won something.

Before the money City and Chelsea had won like one title each in about 100 years.

I've lived through it. If we had experience of winning the PL before 2013/14, we wouldn't have bottled it like we did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You also don`t know that for sure. Another very overused phrase bottling it.

Money is pretty irrelevant to the point I'm making, until a team has got over the line and shown they can win they will have a question mark over them. If you win it next year and have a two horse race against Arsenal next, you will be spoken about more favroubly as you've shown you can do it.

Difficult to say.

Re Spurs, there probably is a mental aspect, however I’m not going to hold to account the likes of NDombele, Hojbjerg, Reguilon etc for the failings of past teams.

Football media / pundits base half everything they say or predict on what has ( or hasn't )happened before, and the other half on which team they have allegiance to and therefore want to achieve things.

Prime examples of these are:

1. Sky match commentators constantly providing us with meaningless statistic like. He scored a hatrick when these teams played 3 years ago, or he got a red card the last time these teams met. About 99.9% of which won't happen again during the game he is covering.

2. You don't need to look any further than John Barnes article yesterday, when he said Spurs won't win the PL title. No real facts were given, other than Spurs haven't won it for years. Oh and, whilst not saying it specifically, as an ex Liverpool player acting as an expert ( yeah, yet another one ) he clearly can't / won't see past Liverpool come what may.
