I think they play more games these days and that's probably all it is.

Ones a striker the the others a midfielder a 6 year old could work that one out sandy

So many flaws in this.

More games these days when you consider World Cup and Euro's qualification, alongside the Nations League as well as the International friendlies that are still being played.

Henderson is one of England's best midfielders in that role, so don't see how that's giving it out like confetti? I'll reason with you and say I have had my eyebrows raised with some players to put on an England shirt, Henderson is not one who falls under this category.

Comparing players from this generation to those from half a century ago is just ridiculous.

TBH Sandy, I'm not too sure how Dier has 44 caps. Similar to P Neville I suppose. Can play in different roles!

Scandalous isn`t it, he is bang average and gets picked because he looks decent playing in a team of 13 men every week.

It probably says more about England`s lack of central midfield options over the last few years though.

So what`s the position of a player got to do with having more caps than other much better players? Even a six year old should be able to see that.

I see Horrendo put club before country yesterday, he claimed he could not carry on with some phantom muscle tightness. Obviously club orders and he will play in Pool`s next game 100%.

Which English CM is currently better than Henderson?

Total nonsense, Four of England`s top ten most capped players come from bygone eras. So you cannot say it is because there are more Internationals these days.

Peter Shilton 125 caps, last one 1990, 30 years ago
Bobby Moore 108 caps, last one 1973, 47 years ago
Bobby Charlton 106 caps, last one 1970, 50 years ago
Billy Wright 105 caps, last one 1959, 61 years ago

So they played plenty of Internationals back in the day, but you had to be of real quality to get a cap.

That's embarrassing that Hendo has played for England so many times.Donkey wouldn't get in France or Belgium squad.

Henderson is decent tbf, not his fault there’s no one better, and England haven’t exactly been blessed with top midfielders since Lampard and Gerrard retired.

Neither am I. But this article is more about Jordan Henderson having the same amount of caps or more than some of the truely great players in the football history.

Decent!!!!!! Sorry Palmers, I don`t see anything other than bog average, and he is very, very lucky to have even one cap, let alone 57. Not his fault I know, but ridiculous a player of very limited ability has so many caps. Is he better than players like Steve Perryman and Billy Bonds, who played nearly 1,500 club games between them, and Perryman was awarded one cap, and Bonds zero.

Well judging from yesterday when he came on for Henderson, Harry Winks, who I personally class as about Championship Level.

England has some very promising young footballers who are yet to peak, but right now bearing in mind each player's respective positions, Henderson is probably England's second best footballer behind Kane.

posted on 16/11/20

Virtually all the players you've listed were playing before substitutes were common, and competing against each other for a place in the side during an era with less games.

It's not exactly rocket science why they have less caps Sandy.

Hendo is a really decent player. I never understand the stick he gets. He keeps things ticking in the best PL team around (for now ), can't ask for much more than that.

Not every player needs to be Messi or Neymar, you can just do the basic things very well and still be essential to your team

Hendersons a great player, but only for the last couple of years. Never understood the criticism.
However 57 caps is a bit mad considering he has only upped his levels as he's become a more mature player.

wouldn't be sure of that. Sissoko and bakayoko have played for france. Fellaini has loads of caps for belgium

Comparisons of International goals scored are ridiculous as well.

When Greaves was banging them in for England they weren't against San Marino, Andorra or the Faroe Islands. Plus Russia and Yugoslavia hadn't split into lots of poor standard countries.

posted on 16/11/20

Sissoko is better than Henderson. And Fellaini is an impact sub who has his uses and has likely won many games for Belgium. Henderson is just average.

Firstly, England do play more games now, that's just a fact.

Secondly, the number of caps a player gets is linked to the competition for places in their position. There are a number of players throughout generations who didn't get the number of games you might imagine because there were simply better players than them at that time. England's midfield options have been limited for the best part of a decade, Henderson has been one of our better options.

Thirdly, Greaves retired from England duty early didn't he? Did a Scholes and said if you're not going to play me then I'll retire.

One of them is a goalkeeper, the other 3 were really top class individual players for the generation they were in.

Henderson is one of England's best midfielders for the generation he is in. Whilst he won't be amassing 100 caps I don't think due to his age, if he was around for another 3/4 years, I could bet he would be.

Is what you're saying that if you aren't as good as any of the 4 mentioned players above, you can't get over 100 caps? Who would you select who is better than Henderson from the 47 caps he has?

Flawed argument again.
