Mahrez starting, Foden on the bench and Bernardo on the wrong wing.

The writing was on the wall as soon as I saw the teamsheet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also thought it was strange that Sterling wasn't tasked with destroying Aurier.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sterling did nothing when he came on. He has been fairly average this season. I also think that City need to play either Bernardo or Foden, regularly in midfield, in order to get some consistency into the team and help out KDB. We are missing David Silva’s skill in opening up a defence. My main criticism is with Mahrez, he has been pretty poor this season, a bad buy for the money he cost.

Sterling did nothing when he came on because he is injured......isn't he ?

Well it was a completely different game then.

Spurs had their lead and were managing it out.

Doesn’t really change my point.

Personally feel sorry for the City fans who had to endure that lethergic and uninspiring performance yesterday against Spurs. Also, Pep seemed to appear clueless on he sidelines. He has a lot a of work to do just to make top-4 this season.

City lost because of 2 defensive mistakes. The first one is a school boy error. Two very expensive centre backs terrified by Kane decide before even the pass is played to go and mark him, leaving a gap behind them? This is what I said yesterday in my article match watch, that will happen. Kane will drag them out of the positions and they'll leave gaps behind him!

Having possession isn't important

It's what you do with it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Having possession is half the job. You won’t win anything if you play the entire season with less possession than the opposition

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sound like a true Gunner fan. Goals win games, not ball possession!

btw: It is entirely possible to win every game played without have the majority of ball possssion!!!!

Foden, Torres and Bernardo all had a good international break but Pep chose to play them in totally different positions to which they play for their respective countries.

He should be trying to create a partnership between Torres and Jesus that could pay dividends incertain games.

I’d like to see Foden or Bernardo starting in the middle more often too, both keep the ball well and are a bit more dynamic going forwards than Rodri or Gundogan - the latter two are starting a lot at the moment, which seems to of helped sure us up at the back, the flip side is we are too slow moving the ball up the pitch and linking in Jesus

To be fair to City, I thought they played pretty well at WHL on Saturday, they will beat most teams playing like that. Just that Spurs are a very, very good outfit themselves, and took their chances when they came.

I still think City will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

I think the goalkeeper was terrible at both goals, especially the first when he rushed out and made it easy for Son.

I think this has been totally overlooked

Would be harsh to blame the keeper for the first goal when both cbs were sucked into following Kane leaving Ederson exposed.

Grated

There was no need for the keeper to rush out the way he did, he made it easy for Son

Watch both goals again, he made it easy for both finishes by rushing out

saw michael owen make the same point and yes, its true that both goals become difficult shots if Ederson stays on his line but he simply is not that kind of goal keeper.

The keeper stands 2 meters in front of his line so that he can give himself a head start if he needs to rush out. Thats his goal keeping style. He has saved a few this season by rushing of his line. It just didnt work on saturday for the 2 shots he faced.

You cant expect him to move back to his line unless if he maintained his position 2 meters in front of his line which is also risky.

Peter Schmichael used to do the same thing, I don’t remember Gary Neville slagging him off

Even if he stayed 2 metres from his line (his starting position) it would have made it harder for both Son and Lo Celso to score.

Rushing out made both finishes easier for both players...it made me happy as I am not a City fan

I'm happy that Ederson is the current holder of the Golden Gloves award.

He must get most decisions right.

I am happy that you are happy to have him as your goalkeeper

I didn’t think he was at fault for the first goal, the key error came before him. I did think he made the wrong call on the second one though.

He rushed out too far at both goals, at the first goal the defender was coming across and the half hit shot from Son would have went straight to him if he held his starting position.

I generally like him as a goalkeeper but he can be rather rash at times hence why he has been chipped and nutmegged so many times

posted on 23/11/20

He wouldn’t have taken the shot had he not been rushing out though. Either way, I still think the bigger error came before Ederson for that one more so than the second one.

I take the point to an extent though.
