Footballing objectives

Bringing in a new Manager would mean to back them with a significant transfer budget, which I genuinely think due to COVID-19, we do not have.

It's hard to remain positive with his appointment, and the fact that we only seem to win with penalties, as amusing as it was at first, has now become a sad parody.

It’s about time we bring in a manager who can get the best out of what he has and can make good players even better. Wonder who that guy is? 🤔

OP is quite correctly questioning the club's objectives; reading between the lines I agree Ed must go and replaced with someone that aligns more closely with Ole's vision.

Ole as has been clear and vocal in his goal to get United back to winning league titles ... the owners and their pet monkey Ed Woodward in contrast have not.

He’s showing what a great manager he is right now. Seems that his time at United was the outlier.

Yep, have to agree. Poch and anise would both be getting more from the current squad, hence the question re what the clubs are objectives are currently.

Was still our best post SAF manager. He’ll probably go and win the league at Spurs and Ed and our club will look even more stupid.

If United can't win the league then I hope Spurs do.

If Jose can do it there then maybe, finally, the penny will drop at OT that there isn't a proper structure in place to get us back to the top.

It's shocking that since we won the PL in 2013 a team has been promoted, nearly got relegated and then won the league. That means there should be no excuses really

I don’t see how a change of structure gets the team playing better.

Isnt the narrative about managers getting the best out of players

And i see you are still ignoring the elephant in the room

I didn't complain while he was here, but I was delighted when he left,, disliked by players and fans alike. His record was good until the season he went, but the football was awful.
I've no grudge and if he takes Spurs to the title good luck to him.
Our game yesterday was like a Jose game, but plenty aren't.

Can't agree Diafol. How many times does it happen in the example you gave.
How much is down to inheriting players that return to fitness to form. Does luck ever play a part.
Why didn't Jose get us challenging?
So many nuances.

I never really got the impression that Jose was happy or settled in the job or that he particularly liked living in Manchester.

The spurs job back in London with no real expectations was probably perfect for him when it came up.

It's not about structures

Spurs havent won anything of note in decades. Keep hearing about how well they are run but still don't do it on the pitch.

It would just be an anomaly if they won, like Leicester did.

Pool and City are injury hit or declining (in City's case), this creates one of those perfect storms for someone else to jump in and win. Could well be spurs but I doubt it.

I'd put my money on Liverpool sadly

I don’t actually disagree with you here. I think he did a better job than some will admit at United but him living out of a hotel didn’t really do his situation any favours.

Robb he came in with the expectations of winning either or both of the PL or the CL

They never happened but sadly he lived up to all other expectations.

He came in at a time when during his normal second season title winning moment Pep’s City were at their peak and getting 100 points. He still got a points total that would have won league titles (2 more points that we got in winning our title in the treble season).

Timing is everything. He was sacked without winning a title so he failed. No one doubts that. But he still improved us on LVG and when he left we’ve gone downhill.

While we persist with a guy out if his depth, Jose has gone somewhere else and is already doing a better job than Ole in half the time.
