Can anyone recommend any bands to listen to. I generally like indie or rock, nothing too heavy. Some mainstream stuff is ok

Try The Rifles, Palmers, some very good stuff, catchy guitar riffs.

Local boy and peace and quiet are a couple of my favourites!

Only really listen to music in the car nowadays.
Our cars don't have CD players, so they along with a my old vinyl are in the loft, so just shout out a tune via amazon, and then let it play recommendations based on that.
Have a few playlists stuffed with all kinds, from Nick Drake to Led Zep, Beastie Boys to Bowie, and 80s stuff.
My 10 year old daughter is obsessed with Bowie, so there's aways music being played somewhere in the house.

My younger brother is really keen on Paper kites, the war on drugs and the National

Never really listened to them but I heard they’re quite decent

1975 have a lot of songs, some good, some bad, very popular indie type band. Very versatile. Can be a bit emoish for some people though.

Gave them a shot a while back and I didnt know why they were on my playlist on Spotify. Now I remembered you recommended them. Not for me though lol

So many people seem to recommend The National so highly....but they're so bland to me. I've given them plenty of time. Listened to full albums in one go. Even had some songs on playlists so I would break them in. Just find myself hitting next each time they come up now.

Not been much great new music this year IMHFO.

But I have been spinning, and enjoying, the new I Break Horses and William Basinski ambi/electro platters.

Adrianne Lenker latest jam in the woods is pretty as fack. And I've just discovered Promise And The Monster.

I've just emailed her to tell her how bad that name is though, so will update you when she changes it in due course

I 've never heard of anything on your list...so unsure where to go with this...

I recently put my best (currently 125) songs on a spotify play list, & only play that in the car...otherwise I have Talksport on

So i can't help here..other that I would not entertain rap garage street music in general

Its ok but it isn't anywhere near the standard of Everlong or Monkey Wrench is it.

I've been enjoying listening to the Vaccines and Bass Drum of Death recently however I dug out Heads Roll by the Fall the other day (their last great album) and it reminded me that they are the band by which all others should be judged.

For me the album of the year. If you are a fan of Queens of the stone age and Guns and Roses then this is the album for you.
Band called Ruff Majik.

Ohmme had a great album out this year. Dizzee Rascal's new one is decent if you're into that. Sports Team also dropped their debut this year. Gorillaz and Songhoy Blues released bangers.. lots of good stuff from 2020!
