Fergie regardless of how useless he was as a player.

Sir Kenny Dalglish.

clough was a very good striker, though didn't win anything.

pep has a very good shout, 6 titles and a CL as a player, and we know what he's done as a manager.

if giggs could manage a team to a PL/CL double, he'd actually draw level with pep's combined player/manager major trophy haul.

grounds enough to give it to giggsy.

I'd give it to Giggsy on the grounds he's not a little baldy c**t.

Rooney.

Won it all as a player.

Undefeated as a manager.

Unprecedented.

I think ZZ probably win this accolade

posted on 28/11/20

ZZ still has a young manager career but must be up there

Guardiola and Conte would also be up there, solid players for top clubs and great managers. Guardiola probably better both as a player and manager

Laurent Blanc had a decent record as manager didn’t he but hasn’t managed a team in ages

Its Franz Beckembauer u dum chidrules

Actually I think I did Conte a disservice. His football career compared with Guardiola is at least comparable if not more impressive. On a quick skim he won 5 league titles and a CL with Juve. Spent 13 years there and captained them. Pep won 4 league titles with Barce, also captained them, spent 11 years there. They are both more impressive than I originally perceived.

Ah I clearly can’t read, Pep won 6 titles and one CL with Barce.

Cruyff, not just trophies but also influence as a player and coach

Beckenbauer without a doubt. Listen to Joe Dolce for once.

Probably Zidane, because he was such a good player. I do think Pep is a better manager than he is, though it's open to debate. Whilst there's no debate about who was the better player, in spite of Pep being an excellent footballer in his own right

I really like all these arguments, but it's still Fergie, and he was a really ordinary player.
