Why is this any different to Europa League sides playing in a Thursday and then again on a Sunday lunch time? Its been happening for years and no one has moaned. Wolves played more games than anyone last season whilst using less players; yet it wasn't an issue then.

Just typical big clubs nonsense where they moan when things don't go their way. Much like his VAR is now a problem according to Liverpool fans, players and staff, but worked perfectly last season when Neto's goal was disallowed against them for Jonny's toenail being offside in the build up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Mourinho was moaning about this a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely agree with him, it's the same problem with Europa League fixtures.

Players have the right to moan about the penalty (they are saying the offside was correct). They've said that walking off the pitch even the Brighton players thought it was a ridiculous decision and that tells you a lot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah right. So because Mourinho moaned about something a few weeks ago it must always have been the case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It always has been the case, in a year where we had no off season, extra international friendlies crammed in where nobody wanted them, why are broadcasters ruining the game by making clubs have basically no rest between matches?

The proof is right there in front of you, more injuries this year than ever before. Nobody including the broadcasters wants to see Liverpool U23s v United U23s, they want the best players involved. That's why they pay billions in the first place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Klopp has played a high intensity game for years which he has had to use caffeine doping to maintain. Now it is causing injuries, he wants to blame everyone else rather than adjust his style or add some rotation. He is becoming like the Donald Trump of football. Won't be long until he is tweeting about how they are trying to steal the Premier League away from him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is wrong with you?

It's not just Liverpool is it, we've had muscle injuries just like everybody else has had muscle injuries (unfortunately Everton decided to injure a few players when we played them).

Doesn't make it a level playing field, makes it a shiiiiit sport to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, it's me who has the problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Wolves have had barely any injuries compared to the rest of the PL this year, so obviously you're fine with the situation.

Won't last though, Europa League can be absolutely killer and your team won't be used to it.

Frankly I hope, just so you can see how ridiculous your argument is, that you suffer the same injury crisis we have. See how you act then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We played more games than anyone else last season through the Europa League, used less players than anyone else and didnt moan once.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's respectable, if not a little lucky. We aren't talking about last season though, we are talking about this season where there was basically no off season.

Different kettle of fish

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We didnt have an off season last year as our season started in July.

It's only a different kettle of fish because you want it to be perceived differently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I stand by the lucky comment then. I haven't watched any Wolves game that doesn't involve Liverpool so it may be a dreadful style of play but wolves have been the exception this year with the lowest number of injuries in the PL according to the BBC.

It's clearly a problem, but that's fine you can put your hands over your ears and ignore it until it becomes an issue for your players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, must just be luck and nothing to do with anything else.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do the broadcasters pay billions to show premier League games? Why do the fans pay hundreds to broadcasters to watch football?

Because the best players in the world play there. You have to surely agree that without the best players the PL is an interior product?

Honestly if you can't grasp that simple concept then I can't be bothered anymore.

Proof of what I'm saying is that viewership figures are actually down this year, so less fans are tuning in.

I will absolutely take my hats off to wolves, clearly doing something right, or it could be luck.

Considering we had barely any injuries last season, I'd blame that on some good luck too.

Klopp could change his team to a low/er intensity style this to save them over the course of the season. Of course he won’t though as he only has an admittedly brilliant plan A. So just like the definition of insanity he will keep doing the same thing whilst expecting a different result. It’s clearly irritating him - which I am admittedly enjoying.

Still think you will win the league though - there will be more games left this year by the time the Jan window opens - probably enough for Liverpool to make up any small points deficit at that stage.

What a strange argument you have going on, the best players in the premier league need to play so the viewing figures stay high & brings in billions in tv revenue, But the players are tired and will keep getting injured if they keep on playing matches

So maybe the same players can’t play every match, as the games will keep oncoming fast this season, so something needs to give

“I don't know how often I have to say it. You picked the 12:30. After Wednesday, Saturday at 12:30 is really dangerous for the players."

Although I agree with him in principle, the TV companies aren’t picking his side; he’s doing that, and he has a squad of 25 players plus U23s and U18s to select from.

If it really is “really dangerous” to play players on Weds night then Sat morning, then who’s ultimately putting them at risk? Who’s telling them to pull the shirt on?

Clue: It isn’t Des Kelly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah his it wasn’t so much the arguments he has, it was the way he went after that poor bloke in the interview.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s like coming back from the local mechanic, noticing that he hasn’t fixed the seatbelts in the back of the car properly, but then taking the kids to school in it anyway before calling up the mechanic’s receptionist and giving *her* both barrels about the fact that you’ve done it

It isn’t the receptionist’s fault that you’re driving your kids around without seatbelts on.

So you'd just pull your kids out of school in that situation?

I’d take them in the ‘reserve’ car

The analogy is clunky; but the point remains that Klopp doesn’t have to start any of the same players on Sat lunchtime that he started on Weds night.

We’re struggling to put a side out when it comes to certain positions. It’s pretty daft how simplistic you make it sound. If he did what you suggest he’d basically be forfeiting the league.

It’s been going on for a long time but nothing has been changed. This season is clearly worse for clubs due to COVID-19.

Neither simply playing the U23s nor taking the injuries on the chin are acceptable solutions.

Something should be changed to accommodate the teams playing in European competitions.

Some weeks it works out fine. United this rolling week: Tuesday, Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday 5:30pm

I don’t think Klopps interview was embarrassing. He gets fed up with our journalists playing ‘gotcha’ and baiting him every week but after the initial exchange it was quite a good discussion.

If the schedule Is set and won’t change for this season, and muscle injuries are up 42% across the board Then the clubs need to adapt their methods to reduce the risk of injuries.
Keep doing the same thing and getting more injuries is a poor way to adapt, no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And how should they adapt?

Aside of play youth players (we played Williams, Phillips and Jones yesterday) what other alternative is there?

And how should they 'adapt' in a way that keeps the broadcasters being able to show the best players in the world on a weekly basis?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m talking about all clubs having to adapt, not just Liverpool. Maybe they have to look at their training methods and recovery periods? How did Wolves go about last season with their epic number of Europa games?
As for the comment about broadcasters being able to showcase the best players regularly, doesn’t come into it, the broadcasters don’t pick the team, and you can’t play the best players if they’re all injured, this is a strange season and clubs need to what they have to and come out as unscathed as possible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think forcing every club to change their entire training and playing set up is the right answer.

In theory it’s great that the fans are getting to see so much football, but in retrospect cramming the season in such a short space is a big mistake imo. Internationals should have been cancelled, maybe even both cup competitions. The league is the most important competition for every side, so that should be where the focus is.

Klopp just echoing moans from Ole a few weeks back but in more detail and thats supposed to be embarrassing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did Ole go after the guy interviewing him?

if you care to read the thread you’ll see I said “it wasn’t so much his arguments”! Ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one takes Ole seriously and he doesn't have the balls to do what Klopp does. That something a certain ex United manager was famous for
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ffs bringing SAF into it now! How long has it been since he quit?
But seeing as you bring it up how often was he slated by other fans for his rants, you can give it but can’t take it! 🤣🤣
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely the United Morespurs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
100%
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The guy who brings Hillsborough up to score points is back!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not point scoring, explaining why Liverpool fans might take offence at the lazy victim term.

Shows your stupidity, yet again, tbh.
