I thought Rodon did well. Dier is looking good as well, although he made a couple of sloppy passes out from the back. But in general our CBs seem to be coping very well with anything that is thrown at them, as shown by four clean sheets in a row in two competitions.
Yeah good summary really.
I think he has huge potential so I'm happy to have him above Sanchez in the pecking order.
Dier has been outstanding.

davies and winks play in their place yesterday we lose at least 2-0
He has potential.
But ids definately not the answer yet. He was incredibly naive and could have cost us on 2 occasions. Once in the first half where fortunately Werner was offside and again at the end where Giroud should have scored.
If we are to have any chance in challenging then we need Toby and Dier to play together all season.
Agree with most the OP, he’s clearly not better than Toby but that’s not really a criticism . Good pick-up.
He looked really good considering it's a step up, he has potential

yeah i would agree
In many ways, I think it was the perfect debut for him. Up against a really strong team, arguably the best attacking team in the division, and he came away having played his part in a clean sheet.
However because he made some errors which luckily didn't cost him, it demonstrated to both him and José that he was far from perfect, and has areas he needs to improve.
Good overall, but two big mistakes which could well have cost us the game.
Obviously a very difficult fixture for him to make his debut, but if we're honest had Sanchez put that performance in we would have crucified him.
I'm not particularly comfortable with him being our third choice CB right now, but he certainly looks to be potentially very good.

yeah... he needs to learn from those... but if Sanchez plays yesterday then, based on prior performances, he would have made a lot more mistakes.
It's crazy how people's perceptions change for different players.
If Sanchez played yesterday and did exactly what Rodon did, he would be slated on here - with everyone stating he made mistakes that could have cost us.
Rodon does it and he's excused.
I'm not hating on Rodon btw, more sticking up for Sanchez (and others)
Rodon will get better under King Jose and I was to hear him acknowledge his mistakes in his post match interview. Seem like he wants to learn and improve which is all you ask for.

Issue with Sanchez is the mistakes are much more frequent than they were for Rodon yesterday, albeit I agree with the sentiment. Rodon’s performance wasn’t too dissimilar to Sanchez’s in his first season.
His young and Jose will mould him into a top player. A few mistakes were made but other than that a 7 out of 10 performance.

I'm not too sure about that.
I think certain players are singled out whereas others are forgiven for mistakes.
Reg played us into trouble v City and I don't think it was mentioned, whereas had Aurier done the same thing, a big deal would of been made about it.
Sanchez headers that ball back yesterday that Giroud got to and he's getting rated 5/10 no matter that Giroud misses.
He is very young and it's early days. Had generally a good game but seemed to get a hard time in the air and was fortunate not to cost spurs the points.
I think he isn't first choice and needs some work and time. Has good attributes but does seem exploitable in some areas. Kinda what u expect at his stahe of his career
Appears he was targeted a little and after looked a little shaky..Must say when he had the ball at his feet my heart was in my mouth a few times as he seemed a tad nervous and if pressured you felt he could wilt. But in the main he did ok.
Will judge him when he settles with a few more games under his belt.
Not a fan of Sanchez but would have preferred him in
such a big game

I hope we see more Rodon this season tbh. He will come on loads from yday and it would be a shame to see him shelved.
Good but not great. On a par with Sanchez I'd say. I like the fact he's good in the air and his positioning seems decent, but if Giroud took his gift everyone would be saying he's sheit.
