I’m less bothered about Giroud as others I think. In fact being honest I think in the latter years of his career he has become a little bit overrated. I think Frank is right to prioritise the future, Tammy, over a 34 year old striker, especially as I think the quality between them isn’t that great. If he wants to leave then fair enough. I don’t think there’s many top clubs around where he will start regularly.
As an outsider - Tammy is the future but I’m glad Giroud didn’t start on Sunday!!
Tammy is new Peter Crouch tbh. He is just a passenger in our team. Cant win the aerial duel, cant pass, cant shot from outside box, cant dribble so basically he is taking space for werner who should be our first and main striker when pulisic will be ready to play on right flank. Tammy isnt even good to occupy central position as second striker. The only reason he is with us is that he hild UK passport but apart this nothing. The sooner Olivier plays on centra position the better. Tammy belongs to Aston Villa level but not top club so pls open your eyes and be honest to each other. The same thing goes for Odoi.
Leading the line is a thankless job and Tammy has done really well at it this season (including against Spurs, ran their defence ragged).
Without Tammy you lose the mobility, that ability to run the channels, the industry in pressing and creates space for others by occupying CB's + always improving (all that put together is why he's ahead of Giroud).
This is never taken into account when critiquing.
This here is symbolic of his improvement: https://video.twimg.com/tweet_video/Enq07tjXcAAHUZ2.mp4
Wasn't able to do that much last season.
Beyond me why he's been much-maligned (actually I have some suspicions).
Tammy is going to be very important to the success of the team going forward in short and long-term (and Frank is absolutely right in prioritising him over Giroud)
Those chances against Spurs weren't clear-cut easy chances.
No guarantees Giroud even reaches them and scores (he had similar chances to get on the end of crosses, against the same opposition in the Carabao Cup).
Besides Frank' ideology is not based around or exclusive to crosses.
One thing we can all agree on is...Frank should not overplay Tammy this season with the alternative options (Werner, Giroud and even Havertz) at his disposal.
Tammy as we know, is still wet behind the ears, and is still maturing, consequently he does need an older head around to learn from. This is the reason for holding on to Giroud, but Tammy I'm sure will get better over the next few years.
What a double standard we see here. Morata was all aver better CF than Tammy and got criticise more for better performance. Thr same can be say about Torres and dont mention his price tag. Focus on all around performence and work they do for team.
Morata was/is a good C/F,but not for the P/L,far too fragile with a weak mentality.
Torres was a class C/F before his injuries, which is why he was never the player he was at Liverpool.

They both have their pros and cons - neither is really top quality, although they both do well from time to time. Our best team would include neither of them - Ziyech and Pulisic out wide, and Werner in the middle with Havertz behind him.
In Giroud’s favour - he has terrific hair. Nobody can doubt that. If he is desperate to leave in January to get more game time, I’d wish him well and send him on his way. Good luck to him.
I would like to see Frank try this tonight .
Mount Kante Havertz
Ziyech Werner Pullsic
I agree BJ.

I agree that’s our best team, Harl, but I’d prefer Lampard to rest a few of those players today, and start with that team at the weekend.
Have seen the team BJ ,and I would be most surprised if we keep a clean sheet tonight !
I have to admit, my comments didn’t age well. I stand corrected - Giroud was incredible.
