Or, AWB wasn't as disciplined as he should have been, and paid a bit more attenition to where Angelino was, rather than drifting infield to attempt to support the CBs?

The first cross field ball you can kind of excuse, but once you know they're doing that, you've got to pay attention.

Their first 2 goals came from the same ball, and the same mistake.

That's not a system issue, that's a AWB hasn't got his facking brain switched on issue.

That's not to say Ole was blameless, but as much he got it wrong tactically, it's not necessarily the reason we conceded.

He may well have been coming in like that all season, which is probably why Angelino hugged the line... Just because he's been doing that all season, doesn't excuse the fact that he didn't realise what was happening and take action to stop it.Like I said, the first time for the first goal it's kind of excusable, but they did the same thing 3-4 times in the first half.

Tbh I think our battle was lost in MF. We just didn't press or pressure them enough they walked through it

That's been our problem before we got a decent run from fred and mct in a few games

That and DDG

We set up a system that has previously worked with the wrong players. Some through injury and some due to ole

AWB has been getting caught out at the back post ever since he turned up at the club. It’s not because of tactics, it’s because he lacks awareness.

This obsession with putting blame on all issues on the football pitch on tactics is ridiculous.

Not when you look at teams like BHA and liepzeg. On paper we have way better players but they are better drilled it's obvious.

That is what tactics do for you. We are clueless as a team relying on individuals

There were definitely some things that were wrong, for sure. I thought the formation was wrong, and didn't like the starting line up.

That said, a large part of that is because we got so heavily outplayed in the first 30 minutes or so and we just couldn't string 2 passes together, and struggled with their energy.

Obviously, if Greenwood buries that chance in the first half, the whole game may have panned out differently. Surprised at how little stick he's getting for that miss that was basically 1 v 1.

Second half we were much better, but you can't give a decent team that kind of advantage and expect a result.

What do you do with Maguire who was equally, if not moreso, at fault for their third?

Yeah they must watch through their erseholes

Bit it's nothing to do with tactics apparently

But that’s not even the same thing as the tactics. And players still have flaws that can, and are, exposed in well drilled sides.

AWB just doesn’t know what is going on around him, and isn’t good in the air. So he loses his man and misjudges the flight of the ball. That is nothing to do with tactics or being well drilled. It’s a fundamental flaw in his skills as a footballer.

It's because the discussion is only ever about the manager.

We win = the manager has done a good job today.

We lose = the manager has done a bad job today and should be sacked.

That's the typical level of sophistication of the debate on here right now.

Call it what you like. Even the ex utd players are talking about how when there is a plan, tactics drilled in, you don't look for a player you know he is there and it makes football easy.

Scholes spoke about it before kick off.

Our lot look lost. Cavani as an old man makes certain runs and looks for space that none of our other forwards do. It's basically what he has been drilled to do

We are headless chickens and it's not just AWB. It's lindelof it's mcguire it's our MF and our forwards. So either they are all bad or coaching is chit

Indeed it is. It just annoys me when people blame clear flaws in a footballer, and mistakes, on tactics. People used to do it with Mourinho as well. I felt sick having to defend him.
