I fear Ole will attempt to go for what’s worked in the past, which now I think Teams have worked out...
I think Ole goes for a similar set up v RB, and yet again we will get blitz from the wings, crosses coming in, and late run ins by their FBs.
I pray he goes for the diamond. Then I’ll be more confident.
But, for me, McGuire Is a serious problem.
Massive problem. He and Lindelof don’t click together.
Hell Smalling and Jones has a better understanding.

Concede early again and it could be a long afternoon

Can’t see us winning today sadly. Either a City win or a drab draw like the Chelsea game.

Our defence isn't just low in confidence, it's simply not good enough.

Hope City take mercy otherwise we are in for a long evening. Fingers crossed we avoid a thrashing.

Will be interesting to see the players reaction. Reactions this season have been lame. Will they be up for the derby? Will they have finally lost faith in Ole after the inept CL exit?

Another stupid formation/lineup and we will lose. It would be nice if we actually had a midfield today.

I think this is the game that Ole needs desperately to re-steady the ship after a couple of disappointing losses that determined the disqualification of the cl- ironically it happens on city's expense/clock. He has done this before - i believe he will be ready to do it again today.

I'd like to believe that if you push a cat into a corner she's going to bite.

If I hear ‘we got off to a slow start’ again, I swear, I’m gonna punch something...
There is no excuse for it. I don’t wanna hear it.
let’s go!

I'm almost hoping Maguire makes a terrible blunder just so ole has a reason to drop his ass for a long period of time, and then of course for us to go on and win.

Optimism/pessimism are not really relevant to realism.

It is the same scenario as every game. Start with your best outfield players in their best positions, et voile we have a football match.

Granted united's best outfield 10 is (just) behind both city's & Chelsea's best outfield 10 in technical competence and ability - except they are ahead in the midfield department. But there is always the possibility that city don't start full strength.

And motivation is also clearly an issue for many in the city squad.

Start with (if available):

AWB
Someone
Maguire
Shaw

Matic
Pogba
Fred
DvdB
Fernandes

Cavani/Ighalo

Then it could happen.

Probably not happen if they don't.

If we can get to 25 minutes at 0-0, I think we have a good chance.

For those mentioning the Chelsea game, we only had Rash and Bruno as our forwards, so was able to plug gaps in midfield.

Having Fred back will be a boost. I’m not the biggest fan, but he’s becoming increasingly important in these kind of games. We really missed him against Leipzig.

Is Cavani fit?

This.

Longer the game goes on and we’re in it, the better chance we will have.

They will come to play and try to dominate, and we no doubt have the ability to hit them on the counter.

Genuinely think anything could happen, but going for a City win.

United always seem to turn up v City. Sitting deep and playing on the counter does seem to bring the best out of them. Think you need to take into account that City have looked a lot weaker than previous years too.

2-1 United

Just smash it into our own net a couple of times from kick off. This apparently turns us into prime Barca and we will win 5-2.

Since Moyes left we’ve won 7, drawn 2 and lost 6 against City in all competitions. It was a bit more one sided in their favour for a few years before that.

But their record at Old Trafford is really good. Four of their 6 wins have come there, we’ve only won 3. For some reason we do better at the Etihad.

I think the loss on Tuesday gives us a much better chance today...

We've been sleep walking through games for the last month, turning up for only 20mins give or take. We needed a jolt and we've gotten it.

I think the team will be zeroed in right from the off today! Whether that's good enough to get a result is another question...
