Bergwin seems to be getting plenty of blame and abuse but tbh I thought he out it one he'll of a shift against a team reknown for hard work. Sure he missed a chance he could've scored but it was against one of the world's best keepers whilst being hounded under pressure. Most of the posters here are acting like he missed an open goal and if Bale played it would've worked out far better.
If Bale could've matched Bergs shift/work rate he would've played. I think that says everything. I take that as Bale wouldn't have been able to last that long, at that pace. Suggesting swapping him for bale would've earned spurs some points seems a strange thing to say tbh.
Morning Don, unlucky last night, extremely fine margins.
Bergweijn has been a good signing but just looks low on confidence. Sometimes being taken out the team can be a good thing.
Bale does need to be playing now too, only way he gets match fit is by playing games. He needs to step up but needs to be playing with Kane and Son for that to happen.

Give Bale a run of games in the league, that’s all I’m saying. Bergwijn and Lucas have had plenty of chances.

Against Stoke mate
Bale is unfit. I also worry about bale and reggie playing together down that side as bale will not cover back.

Bergwijn wasn’t bought in a defensive midfielder son like I keep saying. We use him as part of our attacking 3 and if he isn’t offering anything of that sort, then he’s absolutely not doing his job. Harry Kane is excellent with his defensive work at times, why do we another one? Fact of the matter is Bergwijn isn’t offering us enough up top and has had his opportunities. Time to give Bale a chance.
Would rather see Ndombele replace Bergwijn, so he and GLC can start playing together
I see the conundrum that is Bale. If he doesn’t play, then he can’t find his form. If he does get a run of games and turns out to weigh the team down, then there’s a risk that Spurs lose more ground than they are able to make up.
I would think that the best approach for now would be to have him as the first option off the bench. If after several games given half an hour off the bench he looks like he is making some headway, then give him starts.
As it currently stands, I think José views him as an option to bring on when chasing games or when the game seems like it’s beyond reach for the opposition. It hasn’t looked up until now that José has too much faith in him when the team is looking to protect a narrow lead.
Bit of a catch-22 situation really. I’m no fan of José’s, but regardless of where each fan’s allegiances lie, I do think that he really is in the best position to judge.
Mourinho almost always has one winger who does the donkey/defensive work for balance, Bergwijn is his new Willian/Pandev.
