Luiz and Willian tell Edu: Sack Arteta

You have to wonder if it is the players going to Edu or Edu going to the players.

The more you hear the more it seems as if there are 4 factions in the squad, and it is hard to see any of them backing the boss fully. Maybe the English lads.

Willian didn’t say that, it was his daughter

Willian is such a bum ffs, can't believe I talked myself into thinking he'd be a reasonable signing.

The English lads are clearly so noble

Yeah. Bit racist that, DJ.

I can see it from Luiz, but not sure about Willian. He's recently praised Mikel, and he's starting most games - regardless of performances. In fact, there's other reports saying some of the squad are piiiissed off with Arteta due to favouring Willian - especially after the Dubai/Covid breach stories, and him getting no punishment at all compared to how other players have been treated by the manager.

Unless we drop into the relegation zone, I doubt Arteta will be sacked.

See, I’d heard to same rumour about Willian NOT being dropped post-Dubai being what’s caused a problem with the other players.

Maybe Willian is p/ssed because he thinks there was nothing to answer for though? Wouldn’t surprise me. The arrogance ‘this is so beneath me’ attitude he plays with on the pitch, not hard to imagine he’s not easy to deal with off it.

Luiz..? Well we know all about that guy. As useful as he can be in the team, it was a crazy decision to extend his contract for a second season.

Only have to look at the lack of balance in the squad to see that, even before you get to his character deficiencies.

Luiz is only useful in a 3 at the back, otherwise he's just a disaster waiting to happen. Especially with our sieve like midfield letting everyone run at the CB's all of the time.

Can't believe we were stupid enough to extend his contract.

Actually, yes I can ๐Ÿ™„

The thought that Arteta has trusted the experience of Luiz, Xhaka, Willian et al to help cover his own inexperience looks like it could end up biting him big time.

Should’ve trusted the Hale End lads more. At least if we were 15th with the kids people might be more accepting of things.

Have these rumors been confirmed anywhere else or are we turning into a milk cow for click-bait papers?

Lets be fair here. Luiz is the only reason we won the FA Cup.

Some ITK Twitter guy who’s supposedly accurate about Brazilian stories according to the more influential podcasting Arsenal fans on Twitter, then saw the sun report using the athletic as a source that the players were angry about double standards with Willian. So probably not enough to declare that this story isn’t just click bait

I wouldn’t be surprised either way. We have a squad with about 10+ players who either want to go, know they aren’t wanted, have uncertainties around their future, or are at stage of career where they’re not that bothered or have no connection to the club. It’s a recipe for disharmony amongst the group, and it’s result of years of poor management from the club. We’re going to have this crap repeat it’s self until a lot of these players are gone

It wouldn't surprise me if there are players that have lost trust in Arteta cause in a squad of 25 im sure at least 1 might have their doubts

It also wouldn't surprise me if there were players trying to get him sacked because they have found out they are not wanted and will be sold soon. There are players who know they aren't good enough to play for any better than Arsenal and if they are forced to leave then they'd have to play at a worse club on worse wages. So I can imagine these players will seek to get rid of the manager to save their skins

Who are these players? Most of them are out of contract in summer. Mustafi, Ozil, Sokratis and Luiz are all gone and I doubt the arrival of a new manager would change that.
That leaves Xhaka who will be begging for Arteta to stay so he can be picked week in, week out.

Luiz and Willian have come from culture of winning trophies. They have little time left. Dwelling in the basement diminishes whatever chance they have of fame and fortune. Its not a surprise they can see its not working. Fans can so why wouldn't players?

Maybe if they themselves weren't so sh*t we might doing better. I hate this idea of players who aren't exactly pulling up trees with their performances thinking it's everyone's fault but theirs. We had this in the Wenger days as well. Unless you're a Cesc or Alexis or RVP and clearly performing a level above the rest of the dross around you, you really have no f*cking right to be causing a stink.

posted on 18/12/20

In the Wenger days we knew it was the players. Wenger knew how to coach. I have yet to see that under Arteta.

It doesn't matter how experienced players are, you still need instruction, scheming and practice.

I have never seen any patterns of play under Arteta. I still don't know what his style is. So I am not surprised when the team looks confused on the pitch.

posted on 18/12/20

That's fine but any player who won't accept some of the blame really needs to take a look at themselves.

Arteta's tactics aren't making Willian hit the first man with every corner or have precisely one shot on target all season (well that's arguable maybe), or Luiz do dumb sh*t to give away penalties or get sent off 5 times a season.

I believe individual mistakes come more into focus when players are not comfortable or sure of what their team-mates are doing. Would Gabriel have made the challenge on Walcott if he knew that Holding was covering? He hadn't shown any rashness in previous games. I think there is far too much individualism in our play. Players thinking they have to do it on their own, sometimes its called being out on an island. That I feel is a consequence of a lack of coaching. There is little or no fluidity in our play. Very few unselfish runs. So at times players are standing where they are told to stand which is easy to mark with little or no movement.

I remember ten years ago Clichy, RVP, Nasri, Cesc, Sagna, Adebayor, Hleb all leaving cause they didn't think the arsenal squad was good enough to win trophies.

Im thinking you are pretty much half the team... you are all starting and so 50% responsible for not winning these trophies. The other 50% were the players who stayed.
