Credit to Leeds for their positive approach. Incredibly brave and incredibly naive to come and play right into our hands like that. Nice early xmas present.

Can't deny how good you lot are on the ball though. Fantastic attacking side you are. You won't get far at this level playing that way though.

Think with Rod its that he is a striker player in midfield, he is a class ayer, but you can see he isint been used as best as he can be.

Its not surprising though, as we have Bamford upfront who has done great so far this season.

Can't fault the effort, just lacked the quality of man united.

Need to put it behind us and move on to Burnley, a win there and things look better

Problem is we are playing a left midfielder (who to be fair has been converted into a cracking leftback all things considered) at right back.

A rightback at centreback

Another left sided midfield player at leftback

And have two international centrebacks injured.

That showed today but even with all that considered we lost tbe game in midfield.

Too much is expected of phillips and the rest of the midfield don't come out of that with much credit

First half was a nightmare but second different altogether.

In summary beaten by better quality side.

Kalvin and Mateuzs really poor today.

Stupid questions to Bielsa tonight about changing his style.

Improve the quality of players, play them more in their preferred positions and this style will yield rewards.

Wished he'd make subs a bit more earlier as he did today, feel that recently they've been left too late.

In fairness this season they ain't going down nor are challenging for Europe, so why not have a bit of fun instead of sleepwalking through a season with 0-0's and 1 goal wins/loses most weeks?

We were completely outplayed today - today that is.

Every dog has its day, and we’ll be back.

He made the subs early to avoid either player getting booked and missing the Burnley game. Sky told us that

Not even that downbeat.... should have scored 4 as a minimum but our passing was ridiculously poor. We might get 2 or 3 more results like this vs top teams but we’ll be alright.

Ps - Operation keep Ole - job done. Move on

Anyone who thought we would win today dosnt watch much football.
Bielsa was never going to and never will change the way he plays.
That was two teams trading punches - heavyweight v a middleweight and there was only going to be one outcome. My prediction of 5-2 was very close.
Refreshing that we went to OT and could have scored 5 goals. Mind you they could have hit a dozen in reply.
Proud that we entertained the nation and played our part in a great game of football. Let’s not forget how far we have come in a short space of time. This was merely one more small stepping stone of bielsas project. Trust him to keep us up and go again.

We shouldn't change our style. We just need better players and better luck with injuries. Well after that surely Orta cant say we don't need anyone in January.

posted on 20/12/20

I don’t think we will sign anyone in January.
Can’t sign players because you have injuries.
We have to adapt and find a way.
We have spent an awful lot already and with the cost of Covid, no guarantee of premier football next season and the 20m plus legal claim over JFK think we will sit tight

"Anyone who thought we would win today dosnt watch much football."

I've approached every match this season thinking we could win. This team can outplay anyone on their day.

If you're just going to come on thread and slag off, why bother?

Lowfields - everyone one on here thinks your a first class be11 end. I’ve never joined in with the stick you get because I prefer to hold intelligent discussions. maybe I will join them from now on.

Dont need to spends zillions. A quality left back or central Midfielder would do

Sorry Jonty. Wasn’t intended directly at you and can appreciate that I’ve written it that way. I saw many people expecting a victory pre game on other threads - i was talking general. There’s nothing wrong with being optimist I guess. I’m a huge realist

Was embarrassing to watch Rashford dive for a pen, at 5-1 up. Nothing new under sun, though

Kebab, I agree it's better to be a realist but hey, if we'd held them for the first 20 minutes (make that 10!), the pressure's increasingly on them. Having said that we had three significant weak areas – upfront, midfield and defence. Apart from that, we showed a lot of promise!

It was martial and yes he played for the penalty. He’s probably the worlds best at attracting a lazy nibble. Was already half way to the floor. That said Cooper got away with a stiff right arm on James that certainly wasn’t a dive.

Ok fair enough.

I genuinely think we can match anyone, but ultimately better quality teams will have better chance of beating us and it is indeed a reality check, these are mostly Championship players and it really will take time to add quality, it's not a one window job.

Just hope Bielsa is here for enough windows to do it and that some idiot from 49ers or whatever doesn't start suggesting maybe a change and something unsettles Bielsa.

You can see Raphinia developing, see Rodrigo finding his feet, see Bamford working his socks off, see Meslier making world class saves each game....

I genuinely thought we'd get top 6, happy to say I was over optimistic on that, but what Bielsa is able to get out of players is incredible.

I've seen and heard this comment 'naive' a lot. Bielsa isn't naive, he's a manager with 30 years experience. He knows, and Leeds know, that this result can happen because we are playing against teams with vastly better players than us.

People can talk about the system and how open Leeds play, but that wasn't why we lost today. We lost because we made mistakes and because we didn't take our chances and Man Utd did. Crystal Palace set up defensively and got hit for 7 by Liverpool. Burnley set up defensively and got hit for 5 by Man City, as they do every year.

This system does give the opposition space, but it also created us 5/6 good chances in a game away from home against a top 4 team. We could set up to play for a 0-0 and still get hit for 6.

At the end of the day, does it matter that Leeds lost 6-2 and played open, attacking, exciting football that created a ton of chances for both teams or if we played 10 behind the ball and lost 3-0? Which gives you the better chance to win the game?
