Stones: 8 – The confidence is back, the drive is there and as Pep mentioned his short passing game is one of the best but must improve on the long passes that Laporte is actually good at. Defensively he is so locked on, tracking runners and reading the game perfectly. Cant see him losing his place anytime soon.
Dias: 8 – So hard to do a match review for this guy because you don’t notice him at all as he simply doesn’t make an errors. Doesn’t unnecessarily hold on to the ball, Just keeps things moving and he does his job with little fuss. Pep spoke long about the team working on cutting out all individual errors and this is led by this guy. Cant believe he is 23.
Ake: 6.5 – Defensively marshalled the flank so well giving Dias and Ilkay an off day defensively. Did not provide much width but I think he will be useful in such games to manage the squad.
Rodri: 6.5 – Less mistakes, passes the ball faster and makes more defensive interceptions. He is actually playing well but sadly more is expected due to his transfer fee and the player he is supposed to replace. Looks more committed and switched on. Will have a big season.
Gundogan: 7 - Surprised at his energy levels and the fact that Pep doesn’t sub him anymore. A key player this season and its strange to see him score more from open play than KDB. Prefer him from deep but lets see what this box to box experiment leads to. Pep knows.
De Bruyne: 6.5 – Decent defensive effort, led the press and the team well but cant score and his confidence is gone. I prefer him a bit deeper so we can get more control in midfield but with few or no runners in the team at the moment maybe he is better of the free role and will start scoring soon.
Sterling: 6.5 – Always seems to have more balance when he plays on the right, nice link up play with Cancelo and works harder defensively. Like KDB , not useful in attack.
Bernardo: 6.5 - A lot of running especially in deep positions but another who is a bit clueless in front of goal. I am just happy he is playing as he gives the team a lot of balance.
Torres :6 - Tidy finish. Still not making the right runs but has done as well as can be expected.
Substitutes
Fernandinho (for Rodri, 57): 6.5 - A reliable performance, kept it ticking over.
Aguero (for Torres, 77): 6 - Showed great movement to connect to Cancelo’s cross and only lacked the finish to make it a great come back from injury. Must start against Everton as I think Torres will struggle against Mina and co.
Foden (for Gundogan, 90) 6 – Didn’t do much
Not used: Steffen, Zinchenko, Laporte, Mendy,, Mahrez, Palmer
Agree with most of those. Ake on the left I thought worked really well as it enabled Cancelo to go even further forward than normal. Wouldn’t be surprised to see that more often now.
OP, do you have an agenda against Ake . For the WBA game you marked him 4.5 ,effectively the worst player on the pitch, which he certainly wasn't.
You have now marked him as the worst defender despite him winning more defensive headers than any of the others. He won his challenges in defence and midfield .
You marked Dias as an 8 despite saying he had an off day in defence largely because of Ake.
It's all about opinion but I don't share yours on Ake

OP, do you have an agenda against Ake . For the WBA game you marked him 4.5 ,effectively the worst player on the pitch, which he certainly wasn't.
You have now marked him as the worst defender despite him winning more defensive headers than any of the others. He won his challenges in defence and midfield .
You marked Dias as an 8 despite saying he had an off day in defence largely because of Ake.
It's all about opinion but I don't share yours on Ake

nothing against him. He is a good squad option but we overpaid for him and I feel he has some way to becoming a useful member of the team
A useful squad option but not a useful team member ? You'll have to explain that one.
Overpaid ? There is always a premium attached to any player that is classed as home grown , which I understand he is
