Don't think her gender relates at all. Seen her before and found her insightful. Same with Alex Scott, who is better than most male pundits around, and I'd love to have Lucy Ward on co-commentary for us. Liked her everytime I've heard her as a pundit, and she knows what she is talking about in regards to the club and some of the lads

The club shouldn't be held responsible for the comments made by certain people, who would likely have made those comments all the same anyway. Karen Carney made a poorly informed and very disrespectful point, and its clear it has upset plenty of people at the club.

And why shouldn't it? How much money has Radrizanni invested in promotion just to have it put down to a disease? How much effort did Klich and White et al put in on and off the pitch to achieve the finest thing they've done in their careers thus far? Karen Carney is a very successful ex-pro. She should know more than most just how much work goes into these accomplishments. Belittling them in such a manner is just not on.

That's not even getting into the notion that Leeds should apparently be thankful for a devastating virus that killed three club icons in the matter of a few weeks, as well as hundreds of thousands of others. Had she said the same about Liverpool then there definitely would have been more of an outcry at such a ludicrous statement. Of course, that would be just as much nonsense as it being true about us.

"No Germany, we won the five games prior to the lockdown but prior to that had drawn against Brentford and lost five out of the previous six (including the Arsenal game). I believe the infamous Forest game was the last of that run.
If lockdown had come after that game the grim reaper's views would have carried more weight but as it was she was incorrect. She should watch the Hull and Huddersfield games might learn something. "

Sorry Els, my bad, had 11 in the head, don't know why!..

But still think if it hadn't have been for the break there's no reason why we couldn't have gone undefeated till the end!..

Alex Scott is one of the best pundits there is.
MOTD2 with Leon Osman & Stephen Warnock was incredibly bad. It was impressive how little they knew.

Gender has nothing to do with their ability.

If you are bad you're bad, if you're good you're good.

I think if she had said what you're saying she said, it wouldn't have been so bad. She actually said that Leeds got promoted because of COVID and she doesn't know if they would have got promoted if it wasn't for COVID.

“My only concern would be that they blow up at the end of the season.

“We saw that a couple of seasons ago and I actually think they got promoted because of COVID, in terms of it gave them a bit of respite.

“I don’t know whether they would have gone up if they didn’t have that break.”

Your quote is wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is it wrong? Multiple news agencies are quoting it. I didn't hear it so can't confirm or deny but I would change my view on it if they are quoting it wrong and she only said it aided your promotion.

I actually like Stephen Warnock, to be fair. I'd rather have someone like that doing our games than Hasselbaink every game.

There's probably an even mix of pundits never really researching teams properly and being told to say certain things for the soundbytes that don't help the standard in he country.

When discussing Dunk's goal for Brighton he said that he thought the ball ricochets off his elbow before he puts it in the net, but doesn't think it was handball. Despite the rule being that any contact with the hand or arm in direct build up to a goal is handball whatever the situation. That's been the rule for a season and a half. How he didn't know that I don't know.

But the pair of suggesting Bielsa somehow lied about refusing to change his style because he then moved Phillips into a back 3 for Burnley was also amazing. Between the pair they actually said 'no one expected to see that'!

Is that the woman on the football last night? Good god her voice is like nails down a chalkboard. Hopefully she gets binned off.

How pathetic that the BBC make it the headline on their sport website. It is utterly trivial.

posted on 30/12/20

Just a complete non story, we’d got over a bad patch and were on a winning run prior to the lockdown, so it’s a lazy comment based on bielsa’s history not on what happened last year. But we did fade badly the previous year so it’s hardly an outrageous concept to suggest COVID might have helped.

Whether you agree with that or not, she’s entitled to her opinion, and her gender is irrelevant. There are imbecilic comments made by pundits every match.

Surprised that people like Alex Scott, I find her the master of the banal and obvious... though she has a lot of competition for that.

posted on 30/12/20

She's entitled to her opinion no matter how silly it is. But how many others could use the covid as an excuse ?. Like the teams relegated could say if it had not been for the long break we would have picked up and stayed up. Or those in the chasing pack could say it was because of the break they didn't make the top six, Or those that didn't get promoted out of the top six could say it cost them a top two spot because we were improving when the break happened. The ifs and buts are endless. The point is, it gave everyone the same rest, benefits or setbacks. She could have been honest and say Leeds were promoted because they were the best in the Championship, and tonight shows why, when they do this to the side that finished second last season.

JFH might do himself a favour by learning what our players are called, Alioski he calls Alioki and heaven alone knows what he was trying to say last night when naming our keeper.

I read it. Of course it's typical to take a quote as factual. As stated, I didn't hear it myself at the time.

Not to worry, you're a bit thick, I know. Anything else you need dumbed down?

It’s the responsibility of the social media platforms to weed out any sexist or abusive comments. The club only did what they did to other pundits who disrespected the players and the manger.

Anyway, like a few pundits, she probably knew what she was doing would use a reaction. If not then maybe she should do some research before her next outing.

This issue highlights how thin-skinned we've all become. Karen Carney's comments may have been off the cuff or they may have been her long-held belief – either way, she has the right to express her beliefs (which, in this case, I believe to be totally unfounded). I would have preferred she made it clear that this was merely her personal opinion, but how many of us do that? Look everywhere on this message board and you'll see opinion stated as fact, with a lot of abuse thrown in. I also strongly believe that general criticism of KC is not based on her gender, but again, the easily-offended have entered the fray with chants of sexism. Or have they? Social media loves a good bust-up and elevate harmless comments into the seemingly vitriolic. The likes of Farcebook, Tw@tter, and NoNewsNow are winding us all up with click bait and are creating an issue where there isn't one.
Let's not be thin-skinned – ignore this crap; there are more important things in life.

To be honest the thing I find really insulting about this is that she goes and suggests that we somehow benefited from covid when it killed one of our clubs most beloved figures in Norman Hunter.

As a paid pundit, you can't just say whatever you want about a club, without expecting reactions.

Women want equality, and righfully so. Can't cherry-pick, it goes with everything. You're welcome.

The club have essentially encouraged a Twitter 'pile-on' and sent loads of sexist abuse the way of Karen Carney. It's not a good look.

But on the other hand, she made the worst and most insulting statement about our club that any pundit has made this year and the club have the right to call that out. All football fans, especially those outside the big six, are used to lazy coverage from pundits who clearly don't watch much of their team. We've heard the burn out, 'can they keep this up?' comments a million times now, but she went a step further. Man or woman, Carney or Gary Neville, I think the club would have called out that comment regardless of who it came from because it was so extreme.

My view - she's taken the job and been well paid for it, she's expressed an insulting opinion on live TV (either she knew what she was doing and was baiting or she's repeating something she's heard elsewhere) and the club have the right to respond and shouldn't give her a free pass because she's a woman. If it was Robbie Savage or someone, no one would be criticising the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. If you dish it out, you've got to be prepared to take the flak. However, the comments she is receiving are not simply a response to her ignorance, are they? We have to accept that there are a number of neanderthals out there who will pile on the sexist and misogynistic rhetoric at the slightest opportunity. Radz was right to apologise straight away. He wouldn't have to do this to a Gabby Agbonlahor or a Robbie Savage, but he recognises that we will not win in a battle against the media, and a battle against gender discrimination.

It should be noted that if AR's tweet has nothing insulting in it he's done no wrong!..

People replying to his tweet have a responsibility to abide by the law and respect others, and anyone being insulting or discriminating its up to the recipient to lodge a complaint and the necessary offices to do their jobs!..

If she feels insulted than she should do/say something about it, but AR feels insulted so if she's being insulting than she deseves whatever comes her way!..

Just one question -- has Karen actually apologised for any offence she caused with her views?

I was angry with her after she came out with her opinion. She probably thinks the moon landings were faked too.

As a follower of our team last season. It was very unprofessional of her as a former footballer and utterly disrespectful of the efforts made by our team, coaches and backroom staff.

Yes - there are a lot of opinions on here, but she spouted her rubbish as a paid professional on live TV in front of an audience of (presumably) mostly LUFC fans. She should have known better and ought to have apologised after the fact.
