Agreed.
The only thing I could think that was comparable was if, say, we had Pierluigi Collina and some other tie had Uriah Rennie, then that would also be a different level of officiating.
The person in the OP sounds like he is moaning that it is unfair that his team haven't been allowed to cheat.
Think it’s fair personally.
It’d only be unfair if the rules were different for two teams playing against each other.
We are in the process of turning football into a farce, instigated shamelessly by a bunch of greedy suits who've never played the game, but are raking in huge money!
FFS, some games with VAR? How about no refs in some games too? How about no goal posts?

Hi that person is me, please can you explain this?
Lol all you plastics probably can't even remember what real football is actually like. Remember celebrating goals? Instead you are sitting rocking in a corner worrying about a millimetre being picked up from 10 minutes ago.
This years FA Cup is a joke. It should be cancelled now, with teams having to field youth teams due to fulfil fixture obligations to prevent getting fined. No replays, extra time and pens, even drawing the next rounds together. Its a joke.
We really don't need an FA Cup this season.
Fair play to Chorley Town for beating what was put in front of them.... but, come on.
If ever a competition required a * after it in the history books it will be the 2021 FA Cup* competition.

I refer to the Everton fan in the op.
I don’t think it’s fair. Didn’t City benefit from some wrong decisions at Swansea the other year due to no VAR? Sure they went on to win it that year but would’ve been out with VAR. At a ground that had VAR the year before when Swansea were in the Prem.
Needs to be a level playing field in the same competition.
Also it cost me a win on my accy today with Everton’s being ruled out in 90 mins!
As if an offside goal not being flagged is cheating!

Yes it's a strange one and as I mentioned, the games are officiated at different levels anyway, depending on who the ref is.
I mean, Uriah Rennie ffs?

Good point!
Lots of variables in the game - not least the pitch size for a start.
It’s not ideal but imo common sense dictates you use technology where you can.
Although as someone who thinks VAR does more harm than good, I wouldn’t be disappointed to see it not used.
Agreed.
And actually you are right, where possible, we may as well utilise the technology.
"We're not using the lifesaving technology because the hospital down the road doesn't have it."
A crude comparison, but ...
And yes, I am not a fan of VAR as many others aren't
Guessing, I'd say it used to be 1 in 100 goals, disallowed; now it's 1 in 10.
Can't remember the last time I cheered as the ball hit the back of the net, now it's when the bookies unsuspend the play on cash out, haha.
Chorley you can't be serious!
If that's chorl you've got then ....
It's not fair at all. Should be scrapped or have them at all games.
Definitely should be an all or nothing case. Clearly nothing the much simpler option in this competition.
That was my first thought but why not use it if available?
Same for both teams.
Definitely has a point
But using VAR in random fixtures is pretty much in line with all the inconsistencies that have been going on all season
Postponing league games but letting cup matches go ahead
Giving teams byes to the next round
Changing rules mid season - ie handball rule, amount of subs on bench, amount of subs that can be used
Allowing certain clubs to have fans in stadia
The whole season is a joke
Seems weird to me. Don't care that much, but I guess if you have rules they should be the same throughout otherwise what's the point in them?
Similarly thought it was stupid brining VAR and 5 subs into the League cup at the semis

VAR being used in some ties, but not all..
