I was in the pub when Stan Collymore made his debut for Bradford against Leeds. Everyone I was with were Leeds fans and I said to them that Collymore will definitely score (he had a history scoring on his debuts).
One of the lads said there was no chance and so we had a £20 bet on it.
After we had shook on it I said to him, I bet he scores an overhead kick. 20 minutes later Collymore scored a fine overhead kick.
Then we went double our quits on the £20 over a game of pool and I won that too.

Haha that's a class story. Collymore had a lot of potential but he just wasn't mentally ready to get to the top. He had a mad year at Liverpool I think in the mid 90's but apparently he was nutter.
i predicted that within a week of the season started arab would be wishing it was over
wish i put money on it now

Yes he had a lot of natural ability. Could hit them with either feet. But he really only had 3 good seasons out of his career. I believe he has always suffered with his mental health.
this is from early/mid 2000's.
where i worked then (financial market traders) one of the traders was a mad obsessed horse racing fan.
coming up to the grand national, he'd spent an entire morning going through the entries in the racing post, studying form....
by lunch time i'd got fed up with hearing him muttering to himself over it, so i looked over his shoulder at the list of horses, and just straight out picked 3 (can't remember the actual horses, i knew they were successful though, as i'd already heard of them)
come the race, my picks came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
his eventual pick? fell at the 1st hurdle.
unfortunately, i never bothered placing a bet with the bookies..

Oh I didn't mean he was not mentally strong enough due to his issues with mental health, i've heard that he was a bit of a big time charlie and thought he was the bees knees etc. That's why I said he didn't make it to the top. Apparently when he was at Liverpool he thought he was above all of their staff members who were legends like that Ronnie Moran.

I think that was part of his mental health issues though to be honest.

He's always struck me as being insecure. Which is probably why he gave it he big time Charlie - to compensate for his lack of confidence.
I watched the 2014 FA Cup final in the pub with my dad and two uncles. One uncle said that he had a dream that Arsenal had come from behind and Aaron Ramsey scored the winner.
When they were 2 - 1 down at half time my other uncle ran over to the bookies and put a bet on Arsenal winning 3 - 2 with Ramsey scoring the winner.
Safe to say he paid for drinks for the rest of the evening.

Not exactly a mad prediction but a nice bet that came up. A few years ago united were 2-0 away to West Ham. Seen United were a good price at HT so stuck 20 quid on it. Came back to win 3-2 with a Rooney hattrick. It was the one where he was suspended for cursing into the camera. Got a few hundred quid off it
I had a bet in late 2008 that Spurs would become a big successful club after beating us in the League cup
Sadly I lost the slip, & have never collected
I said that once Tottenham scored once against Ajax in the CL SF a couple of seasons ago that they'd go on and score 3 and win the game. On this site funnily enough.
Mu dad used to watch the racing Saturday afternoon and have the odd bet. He was looking through a card when my younger sister, who would have been about ten said I like Loppylugs, she just liked the name.
Dad but a bit on and it won.
The next Saturday he asked again, of course, and she looked at the card and said another, blow me that won to.
Dad got quite excited, asked her every week for a while before it died out, but she did have more winners.
Ithink it was that she wasn't really interested at all, she had just seen the name loppylugs, liked it, but didn't want to do it everyweek.
