Now the inquest needs to start on why we start games so poorly. I'm not happy with Luiz being first choice CB, I think he's better in possession but defensively I don't trust him, and he is one to switch off. Having said that, we also started poorly when Holding was there, and Partey seems to start sluggishly too.

Laca trying to claim the first goal

Shows we do have it within us to play the way we want to play. Can’t help but think that the fact that we were playing away against a good team meant Mikel sent the us out to play more on the counter, and then that (combined with tired legs from Thursday night) morphed into a terrible negative mindset.

Let this be a lesson. Start as we mean to play, don’t play on autopilot and just assume it will happen, and ffs don’t wait to go a goal or two (or three) behind before we start taking the initiative.

Tbf I think there’s a good chance that a game as memorable as this one will be a lesson.
