And whilst it's obvious that the wicked is so much better for batting...the fact still remains that if you're waiting back and in crease for the ball to get you out it will inevitably get you out
Again a good stride in there makes all the difference

I was ranting all last week in the game while we weren't taking a step or two forward and coming out to the ball we seem to be doing that today...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In theory, it's a simple game. All the way forwards, or all the way back. Whichever you do, commit to it fully.
It shows how much of a mental game Test cricket is though - the pressure can really build throughout a series and get in a batsman's head. England bats will be thinking about the pitches, the bowlers, the fact that India have absolutely smashed us in the last two tests, and that'll interrupt their usual game, make them take strange decisions, stop them thinking critically and clearly.
The best players, like Kohli or Williamson or Smith (or KP back in the day) don't let that stuff get to them. They even raise their game - mental and technical - when the pressure is on.
Just seems like Pope can’t get runs in these conditions always finding a way of getting out
Seriously into the tail now... All out by 10 am
Diden't see that happening
Once again, another shocking batting performance. This pitch is decent, should be getting 300+ but we will be skittle out for under 200 I suspect.
That is seriously unlucky, but you could see he was getting fidgety after being beaten by Ashwin several times that over.
I've got out like that before. Tried to flick through leg, tickled the ball into the rear of my back knee roll, it flicked out of the knee roll and onto the stumps
Need to get at least 250 here
terrible again from Pope. I think he needs to some more prayers..if hes gonna make it at test cricket

Been there too. Went to pull a shot, bottom edge onto my foot, and caught at silly point.
Horrible feeling as a batsman. I'd rather be bowled
Comms going on about how unlucky that was, but even as a huge Pope fan I think he should be asking why his technique was so all over the place there. It was unlucky, but if he'd played the shot properly (or defended) he'd still be out there. Ashwin got in his head that over bigtime

Absolutely. I was on 29 off about 25 balls and properly comfortable at the time too, and then I gave the bowler a wicket he didn't remotely deserve
Not that I'm bitter obviously
Pathetic again, just pathetic.
All out before 10 am absolutely nailed on
Not convinced Foakes has done much wrong there to be honest. Ashwin must be an absolute pig to face. So many variations.
Well Ashwin is certainly a better bowler than foakes is a batsman
Every time we look like getting back into the game we lose a wicket or two.
Have to somehow scramble to 250 if we want to make this competitive. Doubt we will make 200 though.
A decent step forward and then a tentative prod not convincing at all
