Well, you have a habit of sacking managers and before sacking Frank you spent £110m on sacking managers. Longest ever run of a manager since Abramovich is Mourinho with a little over 3 years. So I guess the Russian oil baron is trying to save himself from spending another dozen million on sacking Tuchel, which eventually is going to happen.
Surely one the big draw for managers going to Chelsea is getting paid 3 or 4 years salary for a year or 18 months of work.
Take that away and even fat Sam would think twice.

Well not if you are on an 18 month contract
Very surprised Tuchel agreed to that.
He's got a history of falling out with the board at Dortmund and PSG hasn't he? Maybe both sides thought it was for the best, save any unpleasantness down the line.
Few managers give you the security & certainly of the 2/3 year implosion & Tuchel's one of them. Given we've already hired two of the others in times past & I'd be asking questions if it wasn't a 18 month contract.
The intriguing question there is why Tuchel would agree to it?

You promised me Chelsea wouldn’t go near him because they don’t want another Conte.
I reckon Tuchel’s just putting himself in the window for other big jobs by taking a short contract at Chelsea. He’ll know it’s unlikely he’ll stay beyond two years given how you’re run.

Was our 3rd choice tbh. Rangnick didn't want it & Leipzig weren't willing to discuss Nagelsmann
I don't think it's gunna be an 18 month contract. Marina's good but she's not that good
Aye, but I was surprised you were so convinced you wouldn’t go near him. He’s very highly rated coaching circles. The other stuff was never going to be that important to Chelsea.
Isn’t it two and a half years? I’ve seen conflicting reports. I think most clubs won’t bother offering more than three years now. It’s too costly to sack them for anything more.
Probably the only scenario where we'd of hired him was now, still believe that. Basically he's the only half decent looking chick in the club & we're on the rebound
I saw a report earlier today saying it was gunna be a 4 & a half year deal so who knows. My money's on 2 & a half with an option for one more.
Sounds most likely. I think it could be a good appointment. He’s a very good coach. Problem could be that Chelsea are as much a graveyard for attacking managers as they are strikers. Allegri will be on speed dial.

Why the feck would he get paid 4 years of salary if he signs an 18 month contract?

Some sources say both Tuchel and Chelsea were keen on the 18 month (+ one year extension) option
Mind I’ve just read even Lampard’s contract was just 24 months (+ one year extension)
