Rodgers has done a great job and some of the signings brilliant. Especially the likes of Soyuncu, Fofana, Castagne and Ricardo... a few more quality additions and you'll be a top 4 side I think.

Dublin

How is the health holding up? Any word on a vaccine for you?

posted on 26/1/21

Health has improved
No sign of infection in the lungs for last month
Getting more expansion so doing little jobs every day,
Just have to watch I don't over do it,
Had last 2 days doing nothing
Today was rubbish out and tidy around
Tomorrow is hoover day so an hours hoovering will be
2-6 in ten minute blocks if I feel OK

So definitely an improvement over all
With the new outbreak I'm not taking tesco in for the
Next month, until they work out how it's now spreading

I have a 6 week armageddon cupboard
Of tin food, rice Pasta and frozen veg
So won't starve 😁
Vaccine has just started around here
So 2nd week Feb
Possibly
Was mid Jan to mid Feb

Good man dubs

Glad to hear you're doing ok Dubs.

I'm not quite sure whether we're there to attract really big Players, even at the twilight of their careers, the problem is if they're not a top top player your'e wasting those wages as they'll not be any better than what we've got.

For me, we follow our current transfer strategy.

A mix of young, unproven but hugely talented players, solid signings from abroad and a sprinkling of experience in the English leagues.

I’m never really a fan of top players at the end of their careers unless they have the right attitude or something to prove. Cambiasso was passionate about our cause, Cottee was grateful we gave him the opportunity, Collymore was a result of a bizarre career.

Look at Bale at Spurs. Adding very little. I was very happy when we didn’t seem over keen on Lallana.

For me we’re getting it right. Let’s stick to that.

Glad to hear you're doing OK, Dubs! Keep it up!

As for Eriksen, he's hardly coming to the end of his career is he? 28, or something? He's got plenty of miles left in the tank and having played a year or so in Italy, that's basically done nothing for the clock.

If you think about it, even if we were to pay him say £300K a week (which I concede is pretty steep and likely to cause more than a few tremors in the City dressing room) for the last 15-20 weeks, say - we are paying something like £5-6m, plus the loan fee (if any...) so call it £10m - would that be worth it if he just propelled us to the title (or at the very least 3rd/4th) and therefore CL football next season?

Yes, it sounds a lot when broken down week by week, but when all is said and done (and pretending the dressing room doesn't bat an eyelid) is that really a lot of money by today's standards?

If he genuinely adds quality (and he has just scored a last-minute winner in the Milan derby, by the looks of it...) then for me it's a no brainer. I think he would add that extra bit of quality - especially from set pieces, where, let's face it, we need to be much more potent than we are currently!

Get him in Brendan - he knows what he's doing at the top end of the league table and has a vast amount of experience and quality. That's why he's on what he's on!

I'd Give Tilly Motm for the rest of the Season if Eriksen came any where near Leicester, Loan or not.

Perhaps I'm thinking wrong with Eriksen, but I can't see him doing the dirty stuff. The attraction is that he can create a goal out of nowhere, but on the other hand we've given Maddison that job - including with set pieces. Would Eriksen be motivated, or would he be like a lingering smell in the dressing room?

I'd really want to speak to the player and look him in the eyes (albeit over Zoom) before I took any kind of gamble on him. I'd want to see the hunger there in his eyes to prove himself again. And that means showing a lot more than he showed in his last year or 18 months at Spurs.

The fact that his performances for Spurs were indifferent and he was called out as a drag on the dressing room, followed by a high profile move that hasn’t worked puts this or straight in to the pot called “gamble”.

Would I be willing to risk the current dynamics of the dressing room by introducing a much higher paid player with a high opinion of himself?

Nope.

Not unless people know things I don’t about his motivations. Cambiasso looked an odd aquisition until we saw what he could bring. He strikes me as having a very different attitude though.

I'd have a lot more confidence in an Eriksen approach if the player himself was going: "I need to get games and fitness for the Euros; I'm desperate to play, I have a lot to prove and I'm willing to take a big pay cut to do so."

Unfortunately I'm getting none of that. Not even close. Just a vague "Eriksen's unhappy because he's not playing much at Inter and is open to a move back to the Premier League."
It's all very "I want to go to a big club that appreciates me for the talent I am" rather than "I need to prove myself".

Julian Draxler is available, we need a good winger, 120k a week wages apparently - fits the profile, he's in his prime and has something to prove and we could pick him up for a decent transfer fee.
