It's well overdue. And if football clubs can use CCTV etc to look for racist abuse from fans then the exact same can apply for homophobic abuse.
It's tragic that for a sport that is so progressive in so many ways we're still stuck in the dark ages on issues like this.
It is long overdue, but the legacy of Justin Fashanu continues, plus the media and a lot of fans are unts.

It probably is as common as that but like most things the variance will change on the sample populations I imagine for PL footballers the frequency would be less than 1 in 20 tbh, but go to a university campus and the frequency goes up.
Unfortunately with this sort of thing, one or two guys are going to have to be the guinea pigs to test the water and help move football along.
I don't blame anyone for not wanting to be that person.
i reckon (and this is based on nothing apart from my opinon and observation of people around me throughout my life), i would be surprised if any more than 1 in 50 people are gay. might be closer to 1 in 100
could be massively wrong there..... aside from a guy who i worked with 3 jobs ago, i don't know any openly gay men.
Anonymous abusive posts on social media would be an issue. Could just not go on social media but then I guess if you are gay then you would need to be on instagram to look at handbags and stuff or whatever is gay people do.
