We were way ahead of the game in our youth football. We had a guy with cerebral palsy playing in our team. He was just happy to be involved and occasionally saw a bit of the ball. We also had girls playing for the boy's teams.
Personally couldn't give a monkey's what a player or manager's sexuality is as long as they do their job well, each to their own as long as it is consensual and both are of the age of consent.
However it could be tricky if a couple of your teams players are in a sexual relationship and they fall out because a works sexual relationship that goes sour is a lot different to just not getting on with a colleague, it can create a very toxic atmosphere and is why a lot of employers discourage work relationships and I'm sure Football clubs are no different.

Our LB was blatantly smashing our RB for a few seasons and although it was never mentioned it was never a problem either.
Work place relationships are rarely a good idea, but Imnot sure what sexuality has to do with it.

It was just another complexity and scenario to consider and add a little spice to the debate apart from whether or not a footballer feels he or she can openly say they are gay which I think they should be able to do in today's world as opposed to the bigoted era of years gone bye.
It's a scenario that is probably unlikely to happen but you never know.
No offence intended pal.

What I'm saying is there's absolutely no logic to what you've said.

Is it "totally fine in general society"?
I'm not convinced it is tbh. Its a bit like racism in that people may not be as vocal but no way is it "fine" imo.

I think it depends really. Quite a big gay scene in Nottingham, council are certainly proactive with pride and stuff. Lots of my friends are gay, no one gives a fvck and you'd look a no head saying otherwise.
Older generation and out in the sticks like Mansfield, not so much.
My daughter was bridesmaid at one of the first ever gay weddings, she has no idea about bigotry and so on. I think she'd find it weird.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say it's definitely higher than 1 in 100. I think it's more there's a lot of people who are still entrenched in this view that you can tell when someone is gay, because we all automatically assume everyone is straight.
In reality I bet there's been people you've known at school/uni/work who are gay but you've had no idea.

OK I'm with you now Winston. I see what you mean. I probably haven't worded it very well but I certainly didn't mean they shouldn't come out incase it leads to an intimate work relationship with a fellow teammate. They should definitely feel free to express their sexual orientation and free from any discrimination to do so. They can have a relationship with who ever they want.
My scenario was meant to be light hearted as in what if when they did come out and they had a relationship with a fellow teammate and like any work relationship if it goes sour it creates an awkward atmosphere which could impact negatively on team performance. I'm Not saying this is the reason players don't come out as gay.
There you go that's my story and I'm sticking to it officer.

No worries mate, apologies for the terse reply.
Was wondering if you thought there'd be hundreds of gay relationships suddenly, just because a few players reveal themselves to be gay!
I guess what I’m saying is, in other entertainment and even sports, people can say they are gay and nothing happens, Actors, musicians, whatever
Why is football any different? It certainly shouldn’t be
Is it not weird that players have room mates when they stay over in hotels? You'd think with all the money the clubs have they could afford individual rooms for players. This would put a stop to secret bumming sessions like between Henderson and Lallana when they go to away matches. No wonder Liverpool's away form is so poor. The players must get hardly any sleep at all ("hardly" pun intended)
