76% possession and 16 chances to their 5
You just can’t fail to capitalise on that. You can’t.
Rashford and Martial played 90 minutes like they never played football in there lives. I think Ole cost us with his subs. Everyone could see Martial and Rashford were having complete stinkers and Greenwood was the only one who looked like he could do anything.
Also De Gea is a joke. The 2nd goal came from a huge error by him. Just hoof it up the itch or out of play, instead he passes it to them. Tunazebe is a non-league defender. In whole period play of that goal he just stood there not once marking any player.
Title is over as I didn’t realise how poor Martial and Rashford could play in a game we needed to win and we needed goals. What was frustrating was Sheffield United were there for the taking. Rashford drag a shot early on wide, greenwood should have taken it first early on but instead went around the goalkeeper. Fernandes was doing flicks when he could shoot from close range.
Don’t know about the team or Ole that was a shocker

Mad though, isn’t it? How do you conspire to have three times the amount of the ball and create three times as many opportunities and still lose a game?

Because we didn’t create any chances of quality. Greenwood’s chance was decent and Rashford’s first half. As I said, you’re sounding like Hafi. Looking at the stats and not the actual quality of the attempts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can’t do that because I didn’t see the game. I finished work in time to see the last ten mins.
Was the problem creating decent chances or finishing them off?
The fact we were top of the league for a while with a goalkeeper with nearly the worst save percentage in the premierleague was a miracle in itself. Also we missed the 2nd most big chances so to have a shocking conversion rate and with near the worst goalkeeper in the league it was a miracle we were top for so long.
The CL we got knocked out in exact same way by Leipzig and Istanbul and PSG games goalkeeper cannot make any save and we fluff our lines.
Honestly think it is time De Gea is dropped. The reason why Arsenal have a great record against Man Utd in recent years is due to Leno saving more than De Gea.
People wonder why we fall behind so many times but De Gea rarely makes a save from the 1st shot on target.
I remember under LVG and Mourinho the same thing happened. There is a reason why we seem to finish on 66 points.
Remember Ole first season we ended the season poorly. De Gea save perecentage was like 20% for last few months of the season and the opposition goalkeepers were like 95%. People said Ole got found out but he didn’t. De Gea let in howler after howler and cost us singlehandedly top 4. I think after we beat PSG away we were like 20 goals worse than expected or something like that.
Ah fair enough. Creating them really. Rashford should have scored. Greenwood’s was one a bit more difficult on the inside of the box to the right, he didn’t get a good connection on it and shanked it wide. It was a poor performance yet again. Slow, passive lacking imagination and intensity. All the hall marks of Ole’s United.
Because we didn’t create any chances of quality.
------------------------------------------
Yup. We don't create many good quality chances in games. This is another reason why I don't think our results are sustainable as we've discussed before.
Quite a lot of our goals have come from low quality shooting areas, long range, from the penalty spot etc. Not many of our chances actually come in good positions in the box from close range.
Yeah because you need more than one player in between the penalty spot and the keeper for that.
We missed 30 big chances this season. Only Villa with 31 and Man City with 39 have missed more.
Yeah because you need more than one player in between the penalty spot and the keeper for that.
-------------------------------------------
Rashford missed 2 big chances away to Leicester. Fernandes and Pogba both had big chances away to Liverpool. I think Rashford had the highest expected goals per game in the premierleague last season but he had near the worst conversion rate in the league.

The lack of intensity - it’s *the* key word for me - in these kind of games has to be my biggest issue with Ole’s United.
There just aren’t any gimmes in top flight football now, and every game has to be approached not with the same approach, shape or tactics obviously, but with the same facking intent.
Yep for sure. It’s why I’ve not bought into the idea of progress this season. Results have but performances have gone backwards. We’re playing worse football than we did in the first half of last season. But now we have Bruno and Pogba in the team.
That’s been the most disappointing thing about this season. Even if we were top it matters not when we keep playing shiiiiit football.
We had higher expected goals than the opposition in nearly every game for months now.
Just seen the goal again and how did VAR not give a foul for the one on De Gea is a mystery. I think I was harsh on De Gea as the push stops De Gea getting high and getting to the ball first. More of a foul than the Maguire one as Maguire stood his ground.

Sheffield United should have had a 100% loss record against Man Utd but because last season Jones rugby fouled goal stands it isn’t a surprise 2 arm shove on De Gea stands. The goal we had disallowed should have stood if you think of the fact Maguire didn’t initiate the contact.
