Mrs Mike has had her first jab (Pfizer), as she’s a Nurse on the ITU covid wards. Think her second is booked for late March. She’s also got a home kit to test herself twice weekly (12 weeks worth) which she’s half way through.

Not being funny, and I’ll have one when it’s offered, but what difference is the vaccine actually going to make? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I understand it, It won’t (as far as I know) stop you getting Covid, nor will it stop you spreading it. The vaccine just lessens your chances of getting very ill / hospitalised / dead. Which is good obviously, but how is it going to get us out of lockdown?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it stops you from getting Covid and stops you spreading it. Its like a DTP shot, you dont get any of these diseases and you dont spread them either because you will be immune.
So a lot changes.

It’s not yet known whether it’s stops you getting it, all they know so far is that it reduces the chances of it making you seriously ill. They also don’t know if it stops you passing it on to other people.
It’s people like you who make things up and then spread it around that are a big part of the problem.

Early indications from Israel’s vaccination programme show a reduction in infections so hopefully this is a good sign that, in addition to reducing the severity of the illness, it will also offer some immunity.

Good for you, manfrom.
Now wait 10 years and if you get any awful long term effects, you can respond to those TV commercials that say “if you’ve experienced (insert deadly side effect here) as a result of getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you may be entitled to compensation”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No compensation for you though as you don't want one, unless some black guy gets one before you.

Nah, I’ll only get one when a few years have passed and I’m able to see how many people end up having long term effects from a rushed vaccine.
And then you’ll all have to apologise to me for being such sanctimonious clowns when I said that giving a rushed vaccine to a racial demographic first is eerily similar to the mistakes made during the awful Tuskegee Syphilis Study.

Exactly pool, I only trust those preachers on tv that decry abortion hate all vaccines and love guns. They know. All they’ve asked for us nothing except us Christian republicans believers to send them a few thousand dollars every few months and they will pray to Jesus to keep us safe. That’s the only vaccine we need..

Seriously who gives a fack?
The argument I was making was that let’s assume the vaccine is 100% safe...why should I put myself at risk to wait to get it so that someone else can have it first?
I have two children less than 16 months old. If it’s safe, then I’m doing whatever possible to get it so that I can watch my children grow up and not have serious complications from the China virus.
But let’s say it isn’t safe, I made the case that it is irresponsible to give it out to a racial demographic first because if something goes on, then it’s a repeat of that disgusting Study I just pointed out.
But you fools then made this about how selfish I am and how I’m racist because I’m “upset” that a black person would get it first - which is wrong.
So people just need to facking get over it. I have two family members who are in ICU right now battling COVID. One is my father in law and he will have to have a breathing machine likely if he is discharged because it messed his lungs up. He’s only 57 years old.
My other relative, my spouse’s grandmother, is in worse shape and doctors said that she may pass because of an underlying health issue and she’s not showing any progress.
But guess what? No vaccine for either of them. Why? Because they were supposedly not in a high risk category to begin with.
At the end of the day I don’t give a fack about anyone BUT my family. So, if it came down to where a safe vaccine was available between me and someone else who isn’t family, I’m taking the damn thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to your family π

Yes. COVID-19 vaccination works by teaching your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this protects you from getting sick with COVID-19."

Early indications from Israel’s vaccination programme show a reduction in infections so hopefully this is a good sign that, in addition to reducing the severity of the illness, it will also offer some immunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sure it will, but at this moment in time everything’s an unknown, and this eejit is stating things as fact when they’re clearly not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep that’s a fair point. The Govt and SAGE have been clear on this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m not sure that’s how your opinion on this started....

It is racist but to be fair to that orange fackwit it did stem from China, and let’s face it they eat all sorts over there, and have a massive population so don’t have a good track record when it comes to being he source of the viruses.,

My Dad has just had his. Arms aches a bit.
I loath this particular Government but credit where it's due, they're smashing vaccination.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I predicted they would from about last April.
They know people will forgive and forget if we become one of the first to get a high level of normality back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not yet known whether it’s stops you getting it, all they know so far is that it reduces the chances of it making you seriously ill. They also don’t know if it stops you passing it on to other people.

Yes. COVID-19 vaccination works by teaching your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this protects you from getting sick with COVID-19."
