Is it like a relegation zone with a certain number of the bottom ranked players trying to retain their place and others trying to get promoted? I assume you don't just turn up at Q school with your darts you have to have qualified?
Rob Thornton must have dropped like a stone.
It is a lengthy explanation...
Basically top 64 retain their spot.
Anyone who won a tour card last year retains it.
Challenge and development tour winners and runners up get a tour card (last 2 years).
Then the rest is winners in this.
Kyle Anderson and Harry Ward were top 64 but have quit.
Anyone can enter, pay £500 I think. There have been some very poor standards in the past.
So if you're out of the top 64 and don't meet the other 2 criteria you have mentioned then you have to play to retain your place.
Cut throat business but I guess it keeps things fresh. I'm surprised it isn't televised.

Barney starts with a solid 6-1 win. Only needed an 84 average.
Rene Kruit is knocked out with a 43.6 average
Barney with another 6-1 win. 91 average this time.
6-0 this time for Barney. 100 average. Into the last 16.
The last 4 players each day get into the finals, plus there is one point for a win and how many places needed are filled by an order of merit placing based on this.

Pero Ljubic beats Barney
Had a few chances, getting into a 5-3 lead and missing a lot of opportunites. Finally got over the line though.

How many more chances does Barney get to make the finals?
2 more days, but he will most likely qualify from the points he wins.
110 go through in the European event
Richard Veenstra and Lorenzo Pronk (what a name!) are the 3rd and 4th players to progress to the finals.
