Roy's Keane, you virtue-signalling idiot.
You'll proudly say that even when reports of the number of suicides, financial ruin etc. is reported on and people's lives have been ruined?
All to add a few months onto the lives of some of 0.17% of the population.
You are mental.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So im mental that I dont want people dying or being left with chronic medical conditions from contracting covid 19
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But you're fine with the other 99% of the country suffering similarly. That's mental
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suffering similarly ?
They will be alive and physically healthy ye fackin moron
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Alive but some will have killed themselves having suffered mentally, physically, financially, in their relationships, education, the list goes on.
You want to protect the 0.17% over the 99.83% you facking moron.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weve just established dikhid the purpose of lockdown is to protect from the physical affects of covid
As for other impacts you mentioned
Death and chronic health conditions will also impact on mental health, relationships and finances
You absolute fookin moron
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they will, but as we've established you tool, it's an incredibly low % that will experience that, compared to the negative effects I listed.

Ah, the old make-it-personal, anecdotal take.
Let's flip it: your 83 year old grandad misses out on seeing his grandkids get married because he's not allowed to leave his house due to lockdown. If he then dies, will it have been worth it? On balance, I bet he'd rather take his chances and actually live a fulfilling life than be locked indoors for his last year.

I only know 1 person who has had it and died and she was in her 60s, morbidly obese, with 2 serious comorbidities.

Plenty of doctors have admitted as much on social media but of course no one wants to hear it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well there you go, his official source is Twitter, Instagram, other dubious sources, and probably WhatsApp messages shared by those with nothing better to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But I suppose Ja606's resident experts are 100% trustworthy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do we know the are doctors?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They may be, none of the doctors I know use social media professionally.
Suspect you won't find any of these doctors publishing their findings in peer reviewed medical journals.
Probably not even specialists in the fields they are commenting on (epidemiology, infectious diseases, virology etc.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And yet, when experts in said fields, from the most prestigious universities in the world, signed the Great Barrington Declaration, it received next to no coverage. Funny that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It got plenty of coverage. Did you read it? Have you read the counter arguments against the approach?
More importantly did you add your signature along with all the other notable 'experts':
Signatures of support for the declaration, included "Mr Banana Rama", "Dr Johnny Bananas", "Dr Johnny Fartpants", "Dr Person Fakename", "Harold Shipman", "Professor Notaf Ackingclue", and "Prof Cominic Dummings".
More than 100 psychotherapists, numerous homeopaths, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and other non-relevant people were found to be signatories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's only because they opened it up to the public. But the lead experts that created it are all eminent professionals who have now been ignored by the establishment because they presented an alternative to the mainstream narrative. Aren't you worried that the establishment can effectively muzzle anyone that doesn't tow the line?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one has been ignored or muzzled, your are completely ignorant.
Do you know how many thousands of experts in the medical profession around the world have independently read it and rejected it?
I'll ask again, have you read it? Have you read any of the counter-arguments?
What are your thoughts (as a layperson) or do you have to check your Twitter/Facebook?

Every elderly person I know wants lockdown lifted and is anxious that they haven't got that long left and it's being wasted sitting at home 24/7
Weak minded people, submitting to arbitrary rules, imposed by an inept government. That's all this is.
We will be a full authoritarian state like China and you'll all still be telling people like me it's for the best and to shut up and comply.
I’m baffled that anybody could think that 2% of the UK population dying over a short period of time would be anything but a complete catastrophe.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, it's not going to be 2% is it, it's currently 0.17%.
Secondly, the vast majority of those would have died from something else pretty soon anyway so don't pretend it's the black death, killing everybody equally.
Also, if you think climate change needs tackling then population is the number one contributor to that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's crazy that you've advocated on this thread that it's perfectly reasonable to allow over a million people in the UK to die from this disease ... plus allow hundreds of thousands of others suffer, because there wouldn't have been enough ventilators or medical support to treat them.
Not to mention those recovering may suffer ongoing issues from long Covid.
Add to all this the impact on the 'healthy' population of losing so many - as I'm sure they're not all as selfish and heartless as you.
Wonder what you would do if you were working in a Covid ward having to decide who gets a ventilator.
But as long as you're alright jack, sitting comfortably behind your computer spouting utter drivel.
Do you understand what would happen to healthcare systems if that amount of people died over a short period of time?
There would be no healthcare system.

It's not a case of I'm alright Jack. I can't work from home in my pyjamas so I've been at risk from this killer virus this entire time. And obviously I care about my family and feel bad for anyone who loses someone to covid. But see the bigger picture - we need a holistic approach, not lockdowns which lower the death rate temporarily, until the next wave.
The long term effects of lockdown will be felt for decades. And you'll all complain about them and act as if you didn't foam at the mouth telling people to comply like the line-towing weeds you are.
Funny how you never hear about 'long SARS' - long covid is an invention. Every time there's the chance of lockdown being lifted for good, there's 'but long covid', 'but mutant variants!!', 'but you need a vaccine first', 'but now there's more new strains!' - come on people, wake up, we'll be in lockdown for a while yet.
And the hallmark of pro-lockdowners is calling skeptics 'selfish', 'heartless', "murderers' etc. When lockdowns ruin the lives of tens of millions, not just 100k care home residents. You're the truly selfish, heartless ones. You've been duped by an inept government and you're towing their arbitrary line.
"lockdowns ruin the lives of tens of millions, not just 100k care home residents."
You really are obtuse, it's like any facts, figures, evidence, and reality of the situation fly right over your head.
Pointless debate, I'll leave you to it.
Also, the expression you have been butchering is 'toe the line' not 'tow the line' ... you would have learned that at school (or from reading a book) rather than relying on social media for education!
But as long as you're alright jack, sitting comfortably behind your computer spouting utter drivel.

If we calculated the damage covid has caused in 'expected life remaining' it wouldn't make for such shocking statistics and you all wouldn't be scared little mice allowing Boris and The Science(TM) to tickle your bellies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess my 83 year old father is just expendable and doesn't deserve to see his sons (in their 20s and 30s) get married or to enjoy his grandchildren.
That's certainly some take
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently my 57 year old colleague (postman) was unhealthy and about to die of old age

If he exists, he is a statistic anomaly and you know it.
I only know 1 person who has had it and died and she was in her 60s, morbidly obese, with 2 serious comorbidities.
Everyone else I know that's had it has had the sniffles or in one case a nasty cold that lasted a week or so.
See, we can all do anecdotal stuff. Considering you're the ones claiming to have all the facts and figures, you've resorted to anecdotal stuff quite quickly. Running out of excuses I assume?

I have read it and find it completely reasonable - especially when the alternative is the weird trying-to-eliminate-all-death approach that the mainstream are parroting.
It's crazy that you're advocating that the government can restrict our lives to this degree, unchecked, to try to save a tiny % of people from the inevitable.

I just named two or three people with the opposite outcome but for some reason my anecdotal comments don't count?

Tbf tow the line does at least make sense visually, you are towing the line . I actually read a lot, it's a genuine mistake, doesn't mean anything more than that.
I also barely use social media. But that doesn't fit your stereotyping so forget it.
