He is not better than anybody in our first xi nor is he a world beater after one good game.
I think we should be praising Rose more - considering that's his first game back all season he looked excellent. Solid in defence, confident going forward and unlucky not to score. Gio did well sure, but nothing outstanding IMO. As I said on an earlier thread - who would he replace?
Very true Benny, but it's encouraging that he put in a good shift and (for me) his best ever performance in the famous lilywhite, isn't it?
I'm certainly encouraged - by Redknapp embracing the fringe and younger players
Thought Rose was poor in the first half (lots of misplaced passes) but grew during the second and then looked comfortable.
The high point for me (apart from the two young CMs looking so assured) was Townsend - imo he really showed Lennon how it should be done!
Kim I agree, definitely his best performance to date but it's too soon to consider him for a first team spot because he's way off! I am also loving the fact Harry is rotating his team and giving fringe players, more specifically young players a chance to develop, we've needed it for a long time!
Fair points kimchibaka, he took awhile to get into the game but was quality considering how long he's been out
Good call on Townsend too - he's growing up fast!
we were playing shamrock.. if anyone didnt look quality then its a massive cause for concern.
lennon
I can see both points of view here, I thought Gio did well tonight and has shown Harry he looks motivated and determined to give a good shift.
In saying that, he has shown his worth to be on the bench getting game time, as he is no position to push VdV or Bale from the side.
On another positive, Carroll was outstanding again tonight, anyone got a source to see his pass accuracy % for tonight/this season? I can only remember 3 misplaced passes, 2 of which were 85min+
I'm not a Gio fan but i admit he did okay last night. The problem is, it was Shamrock Rovers, a part time outfit from a rubbish league.
I personally thought Townsend made the difference last night.
Rose is too one-footed going forward.
Lennon was .
But a win is a win.
Dos Santos played well, our best player. That is all you can do when you play be the best.
A player needs to constanly play to get form, I think he should be on the bench for Sunday and on last nights performance ahead of Lennon. However, Lennon is great, my favourite Spurs player. Lennon has played 240 games for Spurs and he is only 22. I think he'll make 500 games.

If Lennon does make 500 appearences only Perryman, Jennings, Mabbutt, Jones and Knowles will be ahead of him on Spurs all time appearance list.
I know Rose and Townsend played well, most of them had a good game, I just pointed out Gio because he has had such stick and not been given a try, but he looked really motivated last night. I know we do have that issue though of who he would replace if he played more, but its good if he is good enough that Harry can rotate the squad the future's bright, the future is lilywhite
