Jose isn’t done yet

Given our easy run I imagine we will stabilise in the next few weeks.

Even with Jose holding us back and not coaching the attackers, surely we can beat Burnley and Fulham with Bale, Son, Kane, Dele and Ndombele?!

However, Jose hasn't won much of note in recent years. As a United fan mentioned earlier they had a very generous route to their Europa final. If we get similar luck we have half a chance, but if we have to play decent opponents I can't see us getting too far.

Our best chance of a trophy this season would be sacking him now.

you'd think Lloris, Walker, Rose, Verts, Dembele and Eriksen werent already at the club when Poch came in the way some fans bang on about the squad being the problem over manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rose and Walker nobody rated that much before Poch came. I don't think Dembele was doing so well pre-Poch, although he showed he was a good player at Fulham.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The point being, he had players that were all in or coming to peak form for a season or two, when he first arrived, he still could not get that team though to perform much on the European stage or in domestic cups. The CL final came more about through an enormous slice of luck along the way. Not to say I didn`t enjoy the run to the final, but I wouldn`t say it had anything at all to do with Poch and his coaching.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you got past the 1st team there wasn't much depth there and that let us down when it really mattered in cup competitions.

How can you say it had nothing to do with Poch? May as well dismiss any involvement the manager has then and just put everything down to the players.

There was luck involved but every team needs luck. I guarantee if it had been Mourinho you would be praising his contributions rather than putting it down to luck.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly that. Last time it was the players that got us to where we we got

This time its Mourinho who got us to where we are

And speaking about luck, has he seen the joke of a run we got to the league Cup final?

It was the most half-arrrrsed set of fixtures ever
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not to mention, are we forgetting the luck Jose has had in keeping his job with form worse than Poch's when he was sacked?

Poch first season - 5th place, league cup final, last 32 of EL

one improvement there in the EL from Jose in his first full season. because we have fallen from a higher place it does seem easier to see it as poorer than it may be, the season does overly rely on the EL run and league cup final.

based on nothing in particular can still see us finishing like 6th which wouldnt be awful from this position so long as a cup accompanies it.

So if he wins the 2 cups is anyone still prepared to go the the stadium next season and watch the shat being served up week in week out next season?

The only reason his in a job still is due to no fans, would 60.000 spurs fans sit there and watch that shat show served up vs Chelsea or Liverpool and be happy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve been bored of watching us playing great football but having nothing to show for it and then watching an awful Arsenal side pick up silverware.

Trophies are not the be all and end all, but there is a balance and this feels like a necessary evil. If we can nick a pot or 2 this year then I would be prepared to give him one more season

Target was always top 4 and a trophy. If you aren't getting top 4 then you have to win the Europa. If you aren't doing either and are just winning a domestic cup I don't consider it that much of a success in all honesty.

tbf we've been less boring of late(mainly in the cups though) West ham game was such a crap result but theyre not mugs this season and we battered them 2nd half, least we are attacking

leicester game through to man city in the league were just absolutely chiiiteee and unacceptable (think Leeds and Sheff U were the two exemptions)

no i totally agree.
i think Jose is an exception for levy though cause of his past success. Hope im wrong if we dont win the EL, cause dont see the point in keeping him otherwise

Not sure cause Levy is all about CL qualification for the money it brings. I think he's holding out hopes on Jose getting top 4 still and/or EL. I think the League Cup is insignificant to him and may well not be enough on its own to keep Jose in a job.

Funnily enough I fancy us to win the EL more than the League Cup even with us being in that final.

Can see us getting lucky in the league cup and winning on pens - I fancy City will still be in the CL and Pep May rest a few.

United should win the EL in my opinion as they are the best team left in it - but I think the Solskjaer drag will come into affect and fully expect the final to be something like Arsenal vs Roma

The Covid situation may help us in the EL too, not having to play sides at their home stadium could be key

City are very much at home in the League Cup and I think they'll play a strong team. Aguero is back for them as well now.

They are strong favourites but I agree that if we are to win it, it'll probably be on pens.

Some people close to the Tottenham boardroom believe Daniel Levy is under Jose Mourinho’s spell and he is amongst the few who still believe this season can end well for Spurs. [

And he would be right, this season can still end well for us. It’s perfectly plausible that we could finish 5/6th and win 2 cups, qualifying for the CL in the process.

Whatever happens there is absolutely no point in making a managerial change before the end of the season

Failure to win against Burnley and he should be very close to being fired.
Most managers would be.

What would it take. Lose 15 in a row?
2 points from 40 ?
Beating a bunch of farmers dont mean a thing.
The team needs to turn around its form fast if it wants to win anything. The Burnley game will tell us a lot.

he finished 6th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were 3 points off of 5th when he joined, and had t chance of going 4th on Xmas eve. We ended up nicking 6th on the last day, and are now midtable in 9th so yes, he has taken us backward. We are also in the Europa League whereas for the previous 4 seasons before he arrived we had been in the Champions League so yes, he has taken us backward. The facts are clear and obvious.

This is Sandy we're talking about. Facts mean nothing to him. It's his ridiculous opinions or nothing
