Somebody said above that second isn't good enough for a club with our resources. There are at least clubs with more resources than us.
Two clubs with better managers.
We all know we haven't got the best, or will get him.
No one with any certainty can say who would have done better than Ole up to this point, or who can take us on.

It may come as a surprise to some that those of us who are currently supporting Ole, our manager, would love a dynamic young Scotsman to come along and give us 25 years of glory
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's almost a decade since our last league trophy, it can quickly turn to 20, 30 years even. Whilst we wait for a winning formula City would and Liverpool would add to their trophy haul.

Time waits for no man.

The cracks are higher up the hierarchy, if the owners don't give a damn about footy success then nor will Ed and the cycle of failure will continue with successive bad managerial appointments.

Let's wait and see what Ole does in the next transfer window. He's not leaving anytime soon since 2nd looks like where we'll finish barring a disaster.

Missed the game today.

Was it a game of limited chances?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Both teams set up not to lose

Utd were marginally better but to be honest you didn't miss anything of quality especially the passing it was atrocious from both

Tuchel has had very little time to coach Chelsea, what's Ole's excuse with Utd?!

Cheers Plump

What's Ole's excuse?

To not lose the game

I'm just worried that we are incapable of beating any big teams in the PL this season.

But first, we need to learn how to score against them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you can't beat these so called top sides then you can forget about trophies.

2nd might be best Ole can give us which is not bad but for feck sake's we should be doing better given the resources at Ole's disposal!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

In fairness, we're up against an elite City side who are already in their mojo mood. We were never catching them once they got back form.

As for against the big 6, we still have some work work to do to improve. We're still a work in progress.

Even if we had fans allowed back into stadiums, we're still someway short of being genuine title winning contenders.
---------------------------------------
-------------------------------

Agreed about improving our performances against the top sides but a 2 year work in progress?

Last season before BRUNO we were very good against the top sides but struggled against lesser ones, the total opposite is the case this season. Could be that managers of top sides are cautious, just like Ole is especially after the mauling by Spurs, the net effect is a stalemate in so many matches. Take some risks, mix it up a little.

Also, Ole must be one of worst users of subs in history. So late and ineffectual that he ought to not bother.

What frustrates more than anything is you take out counter attacks and look at our general performances in terms of passing, especially passing, work rate, defending as a unit and tempo, it's not great. We're getting results but with more convincing performances we would be getting even better results.

If 2 years is WIP, at what point do we say Ole has enough time?! 3, 4, 5 years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Everytime we get a new manager in, it often frustrating starts all over again.

Ole was never going to a top top manager, but always one who would rebuild the foundations. We may never even win a title or one of the major European cups with him. But seeing as we've contained some sort of league position consistency under Ole, we may well persist with him until he can't take us any further.

How far that is, is anyone's guess as at the end of the day, it's down to the incompeteant board to decide IF we need a better manage to come in and bring us silverware in the future, or when Ole decides he can't take us any further.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you talk to some of the brown nosers here they don't care about trophies. Utd don't need trophies.

Being in contention (to the league) by chance and not design is the 15 minutes of thrill they all needed. Contenders indeed 😂

I get your point about turmoil and frustration each successive change brings in. 2 years on and we're still scratching round for decent, consistent performances. Next two transfer windows will be massive for Ole, if Hendo is not the future then we need DDG's long term replacement, a top quality CB, a RB, RW, CDM and CF.

But doesn't matter who we bring in, do we honestly believe Ole would bring us success? What does success look like to people here?

- 2nd?
- Semi finalists?
- Finalist?
- Top 4 and Cup?
- Outside of top 4?
- Outside of top 4 and cup?
- League winners?
- League winners and cup?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ole has been frustrating at times during his time here, but so has the squad itself. We need better quality in some key areas, but it simply isn't going to happen in one quick swoop. This will take time, and patience is one thing some fans can quickly grow tired off.

That being said, Ole has overseen some of United's best periods since we last won the league. But this has simply papered over some flaws. And it's some of these flaws that maybe Ole's or the team's downall if they are not addressed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Keeping hold of the ball and using it well are the simple things I crave. However, a manager who favours counter attacks would not coach his side on possession, why would he? And it shows painfully at times how bad we are in that aspect.

Defending set pieces! My god we are awful. I blame personnel and poor coaching.

Attacking FBs. Where are they?

Maybe lack of personnel in key areas is acting as an impediment to the way Ole wants to see us play, who knows so maybe in the summer window he'll address that. He better because patience is running thin.

It can't quickly turn to 20 years. It will take 12 years which ain't quick.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

May 2023 would be exactly 10 years since our last league trophy. So another 2 years on top of that before we win the league again, 2025? And you see Ole being in charge?! 4 summer windows to boot!

I can still see Maguire and Lindelol in defence in 2025! 😂

Where has 52 said anything about winning the league in 2025?

Re-read his message, a few times if necessary, and let us know when you get it.

Whether we win it at some point in the 20s or 30s, the wait is too long for a club with our resources.

I prefer winning it in 2025!

Ole has never been a possesion based coach. It's not his style. He favours attack. But currently we need a squad that is capable on the consitency, which we don't have, hence at times we revert to counter attacks.

Defence is an issue, as well the number 1 keeper role. Right side of attack has been an ongoing issue which we still haven't resolved. Mason needs real competition on that side as he is still young and is still raw.

Attacking fullbacks has been non existent in our squad for a good number of years. Shaw has been decent this season, but AWB still hasn't made progress in that attacking part of his game. bringing in Telles was good business, but hasn't played much.

The summer window, will be interesting not for us, but who are rivals get too. Many clubs will be impacted by financial funds. We certainly will have to make better work of selling some players to bring in some extra cash to spend.
