Both teams without their best player so more of a level playing field in this one. I suspect Villa would have been well below us in the league if Grealish had missed anywhere near as many matches as Jimenez

Another dreadful VAR decision. How can the ball that hit the arm of a Burnley player not be a penalty?

Conceded late in injury time last time. Started with four at the back as well and left Boly on the bench. Moutinho only red card in that card happy game as well.

Hopefully we go at them early and not just lazily stroll through the first half.

Big bonus for us is having Boly back. Feck Dendoncker off back to the midfield and get a proper LCB in place, ie Kilman and we might start getting some clean sheets again. That having been said I think Saiss has been good at the back and so much better disciplined than in seasons gone by.

My preferred starting 11 for today would be
..............................Patricio
............Boly...........Coady...........Kilman
Semedo.......Donc...........Neves.........Jonny
..............Traore.......Willian.........Neto

Just seen that decision. I don't understand anymore.

I would go with that team gem although we do need to start seeing more from Jose. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Fabio start

Aston Villa v Wolves match preview
by GeminMallorca Wenger sort out VAR FFS! (U18318)3 March 2021

In the reverse fixture at Molineux, Villa won the game and the bragging rights courtesy of a 90th minute penalty scored by Anwar El Ghazi.
The game was refereed by Mike Dean who in typical fashion was throwing out cards like confetti. In addition to awarding the penalty, he also issued 11 yellow cards and 2 reds, one for Douglas Luiz in the 85th minute and one for Joao Moutinho in the 90th.
Another notable feature of the game was that it was just the second match that Wolves played without injured striker Raul Jimenez with 18 year-old newcomer, Fábio Silva being thrown in at the deep end to cover. At the time Nuno was also experimenting with different formations and this game was played with a back 4 leaving key players Ruben Neves and Willy Boly on the substitute’s bench.

No, agreed, Fabio in the starting 11 wouldn't surprise me either. Saiss is nailed on to start as well but I have no idea what Kilman has done to upset Nuno.

Boly still on the bench. Not yet fully fit I presume

Still plenty good enough to be beating Villa, no real excuses for not coming out on top

I would be much happier to see Boly instead of Donc. If he's fit enough to be a sub, he should be fit enough to play.

posted on 6/3/21

Same back 4 for Villa that couldn't stop bottom of the league, 10 man, Sheffield United from scoring.
No excuses for not winning this one.

343 for us, 451 for Villa. Concern would be if our midfield are crowded out of it

Jose really doesn’t have many more chances left
