It's Liam Cooper. He seems to divide opinions more than any other current Leeds player. He's powerful, good on the ball and an excellent leader, but he does get some criticism for going into tackles in the penalty area when some supporters feel he shouldn't make the tackle, but shadow the player away from goal.
He was poor first few games coming back from injury.
Been good rest of season
Statistics wise those it says Aston Villa are the 3rd best side in Europe
Stats always need to be taken in context, especially defensive stats as they often favour the sides that have a lot of defending to do. But Cooper's stats are always good.
He made the PFA championship team of the year 2 years on the bounce, so his fellow professionals rate him, higher than his own fans.
He's just never shaken the 'calamity coops' reputation due to being error prone in his earlier days - some of which were red mist/brain farts. The playoff game gives an argument that maybe the occasion could get to him and there's always the feeling there's an unnecessary foul or stupid penalty in him.
But people seem to struggle to recognise the improvement he's made, so it's his mistakes that get talked about... not the one's Jansson made or white made or koch has made.
I thought he looked shaky at the start of the season, but in my view he's been excellent for most of it.
OK I would say Cooper is as good as or maybe slightly better than Alan Hansen...and what is Hansen now, 65?
humour you? oh ok.........
