The original Ronaldo was originally coached as a Goalkeeper.
Good thing someone fixed that mistake
Lol
Think Drogba was also a ‘keeper or maybe a CB as a young teenager.
Always weird to me Henderson was a winger when he first came through at Sunderland, that was back in the flat 4-4-2 days though
Fred was coached to play in MF when in reality he should be coached to be well away from any football pitch.
Bale as a left back originally? Made all the difference when he was pushed further forward.
I think Rooney started life as a keeper, too, before changing position.
I remember reading somewhere Torres started out as a keeper in his youth, before someone saw his pace & goalscoring potential upfront.
And boy I'm inclined to believe it, explains (a) why he was technically unorthodox, (b) why his confidence hit the deck as soon as he lost his pace.
Was talking more players who already have an established position who you think could/should have been coached in a different position, such as my examples
Dan Petrescu could've been a killer RWB
Vincent Kompany was signed as an Attacking Midfielder.
Pablo Zabaleta was signed as a Defensive Midfielder.
Definitely agree on Sissoko.

Phil Jones and the wrong sport? He could've made a great prop
marcelo is an interesting one
as its amazing he's played his career as a LB
firstly he can't defend for shiiit , never has been able to, has no defensively instincts or positional sense at all
also, he is technically brilliant...infact i'd say without question he was the most technically skilled player in madrid's 2nd galactico team
bloke could have played as a number 10 no question imo
Bonar Glacier is on the route for climbers ascending Mt Aspiring and has the reputation of being a gruelling approach, he said.
There's a view amongst some Liverpool fans that TAA should be a CM (and that he'll end up there).
I certainly wouldn’t say it was the “wrong” position, as crossing was obviously such a feature of his game, but when he broke onto the scene I thought David Beckham would be more of a central midfielder. He had a decent work ethic, good long-range passing and could even get stuck in a bit, as well as having the ability to score from distance or to get into the box for less glamorous goals.
Anderson was an attacking midfielder before SAF signed him. For some reason SAF tried to coach him to be a box to box midfielder.
This clearly didn’t suit someone with a loving for a double whopper with cheese.

In today’s game he almost certainly would’ve been solely a central midfielder
Jesus looks more a wide player than a striker to me
John Obi Mikkel was an attacking midfielder before Jose changed him

Goes along with the theory that were he playing today Beckham would've been coached as a centre midfielder.
Beckham played center midfield later in his career and was quite good.
I think Kalidou Koulibaly cudda made a grate central midfielder.
he is incredibly fast n can carry the ball well.
Ferguson changed Alan Smith from a striker to a midfielder.
