Hey up Amiga
Got days gone couple of months back on PlayStation now, got bored after sub 60 minutes
Hey Tino good to hear from you buddy. Days Gone is like any other game, some will love it others will hate it.
I would say 60 mins is probably not doing it justice. I know a gamer I followed, put if right up there with the best the PS4 has to offer.
It certainly had long legs as far as sales went. So it had it's appeal.
Yeah maybe I need to sit down with it and have another go but I get zero time these days to commit to long sessions or gaming
Hope you're keeping well though
Days Gone is a great game for free, we were discussing it a couple of months ago and below is the review i wrote then;
On the grand scale of open world games, it sits below the big two from Rockstar, however it effectively pulls off the zombie apocalypse in the same way red dead does westerns and gta does big cities. all in all, I would say it sits comfortably as one of the best games in the tier below those two.
Game play wise the controls can feel a little clunky at first, however you quickly get used to them and it stops being a problem fairly quickly. as you level up you get new skills and your bike gets better parts which all but gets rid of any chunkiness with the controls.
story wise its nothing to write home about, the story is effective in parts and the narrative is good for driving you through the map to open up the world. If anything I think the story opening up actually takes away the overall feel of the game, not to give too much away but obviously as the game moves through the reasons for the outbreak start to become more apparent, personally I think it works better when you are just some biker guy from Oregon who doesn’t have any idea why it happened, only that it happened, not understanding what happened, just that you are left to survive and deal with a world gone mad was better in my opinion because let’s be honest, that is what would happen if you ever were in that situation.
If anything, the game does suffer a little from level creep in regards that usually about two thirds of the way through the content you hit a point where you get overpowered as your skill set, stamina, strength, "deadeye" and weapons become more effective than the zombies you are up against.
this is very evident with hordes (which are huge swarm of zombies).
The first time you come across one of these on in the early game you will crap yourself and either bug out in a panic or quickly get overrun. You will wonder how you will ever destroy it and get into that part of the map.
the first time you manage to take one down you will feel like the king of (what’s left of) the world.
By the third or fourth you hit your stride.
After that it’s a little too easier to do and you find it more of a chore than a challenge.
When I finally clocked it (there are a couple of good story closing off missions after the main quest is complete) I was happy I had played it as I enjoyed it, however I couldn’t help thinking that actually the weaker points of the game would need addressing in a sequel.
I mean, if they build on this, by improving game dynamics, side quests and mission variety, and deal with the level creep, Days Gone 2 would be a world beater of a game.
I'm keeping ok Tino, I know you had some issues, but you seem to be doing alright?
Are you thinking of getting a PS5?
Mattyp, thanks for that input. It is always good to hear from the people who have played and finished it. TO me most the impressions of the game have been pretty positive.

Yeah you come across as a bit bouncy
I'll probably get a PS5 when PSVR2 arrives. The potential leap could be massive. and I enjoy VR.
Oddworld
Something when the PS5 was announced I wanted to get when I saw the preview and would have paid for, is the free monthly game. Great news.
Good write up on Days Gone too, thanks for that. I’m going to play it on the PS5 at some point this year, heard good things about it on the new console.
That is a good point about Days Gone on the PS5. The increased framerate makes it feel almost like a new game.
Looks like a great month for you Michael
Cheers for that free games thread Amiga. Been playing thumper and subnautica cracking games I would t have known about if it wasn’t for your thread. Great stuff
Keep it up
Gamepass is what you want. Ten times better than ps plus.
Timmy shouldn't this be in the xbox section? Or are you afraid nobody is going to see it?
Which in itself tells you something about gamepass. Nobody cares.

Played Days Gone last year and it's a very good game, the horde mechanic is amazing. Starts very slow though which is probably why it didn't get the best reviews, and it can a bit repetitive towards the end.
Absolute bargain if you get it for free.

Oddworld out today for free
Just remembered, so set it off to start the download now ready for when I get home from work.
Played the first chapter last night, controls are a little clunky but all in all it was pretty fun.
Took me back to being 8-9ish playing the original on the PS1, slapping fellow Mudokons and farting all over the place (although I haven't learnt how to fart yet this one)
hey up baggy, hows tricks
