Would we still keep Jose if he won the cup and missed out on top 4? Levy might use the cup win as justification to keep him and think that we're still on the right track.

Mourinho and the Europa Conference. Gawd help us
If Levy thinks we're on the right track we've got huge massive problems.

Nah he's done now no matter what
Well Baldy was deluded enough to bring him in in the first place so it's certainly possible.
At the end of the day, any sacking of Jose shows what a huge mistake it was on Levy's part.
Say what you will about levy's choice of hires but he isn't shy to pull the trigger when he sees it's not worked out

A trophy and top 4 would save him I would think. After that, top 4 might, and so might winning the cup and going on a good run in the league but still missing out on top 4.
I mean I still hear talk of him being kept on if he does neither, which is scary.
Said it a few months back and I'll say it again. Scott Parker in case JN goes elsewhere.
would love Scotty to work with us

Potter before Parker. Then maybe Parker if Potter is unavailable. Still not convinced on Parker though.
I think either signals a lack of ambition
apparently hes chased after Jose for a while though. think Levy loved Poch and even though in hindsight his time was up, i think Jose being available was certainly a factor in the speed of the sacking and hiring.

Yeah I'd say so. You don't hire one of the most successful managers in the game at 15m a year because you don't expect to win stuff. Granted, it hasn't worked out.
Maybe Potter would be ok cos he's trendy? Hiring Parker especially would be a terrible move though imo. Why would Son, Kane et al have any reason to think he could lead them to trophies?
Parker would be a lack of ambition especially if he gets relegated with Fulham.
Potter has at least been managing for a little while, has managed in Europe, and as evident with the way Brighton play, has shown a level of progress.
I wouldn't be mad if we went for Potter but the way I see it he'd be a bigger risk than Poch was at the time, and we're further along the journey. Top 4 isn't a nice to have anymore, it's pretty much a requirement.

I wouldn't say Potter is any more of a risk than Poch, and as I said before, had they had better finishing in front of goal, they'd be near where Poch had Southampton before we opted for him.
Look at United with Ole; certainly no better than Potter before United went for him and he also followed a failing Jose.
It's beyond just meeting targets for Jose. Completely stripped confidence from majority of the squad and divided the fan base, where there is now no clear plan or identity.
Top 4 is a requirement for 6 clubs and now you have Leicester in the mix and who knows if West ham will be sustainable in European places.
I'm fairly confident we will be in and out of CL places in the future. Its about mixing that with silverware when stadiums are full, belief is back in the squad and football business side is more positive.
Stripped what confidence from the squad? Sure they're not playing well right now, but we hadn't for a long time.
I get that we need to sack Jose and hire a good replacement but I don't want a cheerleader. We don't have the resources that United do to carry a manager who's not really qualified.
I'm not saying about a cheerleader. It's more than confidence sure, it's more lack of belief from lots of players he keeps bringing in and out of the team.
Pogba and Shaw are great examples from his time at United. Two of the best players on the park Sunday.
I'm not sure Ole is useful here really, we could just as easily be talking about Lampard at Chelsea for reasons to not go for an ex player with limited experience.
Of course I take your point about us needing a better man manager. I'd like to think anyone we hire will have a more modern approach than Jose.

We need our identity back. He knows the club and started his coaching career with us too With no Europe next season which is looking likely as we are dropping down the league, our options will not be good.
As I said though, JN first then SP.
