All about money, the clubs will benefit a lot more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will they in the long term though?

Take a fixture like spurs vs Barcelona for example.

Under the current system that will not happen every year, so when it does come around it has more "ompth" to it.

Five years down the road, its going to be, oh great, Barcelona again, thats only the tenth time we have played them in five years can I really be bothered wasting a weekend on this when I am working on Monday....
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you apply that logic then fans wouldn't be bothering to turn up to watch spurs play villa for the 10th time in 5 years, but they still do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last time I checked that didn't take two flights, a visa and long ques at an airport.

Travelling to Birmingham is no way the same as travelling international.

You think it is going to take two flights etc for spurs fans to get to their home game against Tottenham? Or is this based purely on the small number of away fans that go to games regularly?

No different to going away in the Champions League / Europa. Fans go to Belarus to watch their clubs reserves and kids play the 4th best team from the Belarussian league.

Flight there
Flight back

Two flights for away games.

At the moment going to away days in Europe is special.

This league will ruin that in the long term.

Add to that the fact that there will be nothing to play for in this league and it will get boring.

Right now in any season you have 2-3 clubs going for the title.

Then you have maybe 6-7 clubs vying for the champions league (when you include the above teams also going for the title)

Add to that teams who are in with a chance of europa league places and cup competitions that while as not ad important as the league have history behind them and a chance of European football for a lot of teams who wouldn't get it otherwise.

Add to that rivals.

Any fan know the feeling of beating that team the guy who sits opposite of you at work supports... you don't get that feeling with European teams (for the most part)

All that makes it far more exciting then this European league will be.

It might be good at first, but the novelty will soon wear off

Why is it so special now? Arsenal have played Olympiakos as many times as some PL teams in the last 10 years, were playing Bayern twice a season. Would going to Qarabag be so much more appealing.

Add to that rivals.

Arsenals rivals will be there. Man Utd will still have Liverpool and Man City - and Arsenal. Is Arsenals rivalry with Norwich worth that much?

Isn't the format the Yank style leagues followed by play-offs?

If they brought this in, that would be me done as a Tottenham fan. I wouldn't watch that. The expanded Champions League proposals are bad enough, but this is just nonsense, and pure self-interest from the biggest clubs, as was the case with Project Big Picture.

Besides it being a terrible idea in many ways, it would also see us losing pretty much every week. That would be fun.

I'll go full-time in supporting my non-league club or start supporting Leicester (a team I adopted in my uni days).

Pure delusions of grandeur and a power grab. Uefa and the Premier League are far from perfect, but they are in the right here. The big clubs already have a huge advantage in many ways, why do they need more?

The only reason for that is that our league has promotion and relegation, which makes our league far more interesting

Without the Big 6 (ish) the premier league has no product so I doubt they’ll go through and ban them

Take away 8 of the other teams in the league.

Give them nothing to play for year after year (arsenal and spurs won't ever win this league).

No top four
No cup games
No other results in the league which could make a difference to their European hopes.

And see how exciting it still is.

This is being financed by JP Morgan at a cost of £2 bn. DAZN (never heard of them) are willing to pay £3.5 bn for the TV rights. Each founding club of the league will recieve approx €350m each so you can see why Levy has signed up.

The timing of this is interesting though. Tomorrow UEFA plan to announce the new champions league format starting 2024. These big clubs are sick of UEFA who themselves are a bunch of gangsters like FIFA.

The thing to remember here is the fact that global audiences would rather watch the super league so there is a demand out there..

But there is top 4 - those who progress to the next round.
The idea Spurs and Arsenal won't ever win this league is an interesting one, that doesn't really hold much weight when looking at the proposals.

The new CL format means something like two leagues of 36 teams where the ££££ gets distrubted more hence why the big 6 and others have said funk you, we will play on our own terms.

Anyone see Gary Neville's rant on Sky earlier? Ironic when you think 20 odd years ago Sky widened the gap between the old division one clubs and the rest of the league in terms of finance.

Now this is all kicking off. Football is getting lost by money and power. Doesn't usually end well.

This is why PSG aren't signing up. Their owner owns BeIN Sport.

The PL and CL have no product without the big clubs.

No one gives a fack about games like Burnley vs Brighton in the PL or Zagreb vs Legia Warschau in the CL.

Wrong, the supporters of these teams do.
I for one do not want to see a “Super League”, football is a grass roots game and should remain so.

Premiership will be just fine.

Leeds sold out every week these last two seasons in the championship (well when fans were there that is) and we have a season ticket waiting list as long as the BFGs arm.

And that was when we were playing Barnsley, Derby and Brentford every week.

So our fans will still turn up.

Oh and add to that we just qualified for Europe, so what if we don't get to play in Madrid or Milan.

Still could play the German teams, PSG the Dutch teams and still great teams in Spain and Italy as well as those in France and Portugal.

Yet if the super league does kick off I bet you will still be on here deep down supporting the club.

There are always grass roots clubs we could follow but as Al Pancino in god father 3 said "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"
