What I don't get is that people are (rightly) suggesting that this is a bluff for these clubs to get more money.
But they already get more money than the other clubs.
Why try to make it all even more unfair? I am completely losing any love for professional football.
Part of me thinks that this could be some kind of bluff, a warning shot. However, so many clubs firing off a warning at the same time? I’m so disillusioned right now to be honest.
Because they have been losing hundred of millions over the past 12 months and ultimately they’re greedy b@stards
It’s gonna happen and the leagues won’t punish the clubs as it’ll ruin the league overall, be grateful we’re part of it and won’t suffer from it happening
FIFA have pretty much gave a weak statement regarding it, they won’t stop players playing for their nations, they won’t want to devalue their own competitions over some clubs in Europe
Its always been about the money.
These clubs have just openly admitted it.
What will happen to the CL though? I assume these 12 clubs won’t take part, so who will?
Genius
I can see this 100 per cent happening. I would expect everything to be fairly advanced now, and it will go ahead as planned. Supporters come a long way down the priority of owners unfortunately, so they will not even come into the equation.
Money is the only thing that rules football these days, so I would have no problem with Spurs joining a super league now. A few years ago I was absolutely opposed to it, but it is patently clear, that unless you have unlimited funds, your club will win next to nothing. At least Spurs will have lots of funds when the join the super league, and it will be fairly level, so it will then be up to the club itself.
It could be the best thing that's ever happened.
Let them pi55-off, ban the players from internationals and have a new breath of fresh air into the England squad, (without Southgate too).
It’s what I initially thought but I think it’s more serious than just a bluff.
I think it’s something that started out as what it has always been, a pipe dream. But I think it’s clear that the clubs have been discussing this and researching this for at least a year. Now they truly believe it is something that can happen.
Combined with the financial backing/‘insight’ of the prospective income + their disagreement over the new CL and I think it shows it isn’t neccessarily a fully empty threat.
I’m sure the clubs see it as a win win. They either get the CL they want or they create the ESL and get the financial incentive they’re licking their lips at
It’s not a bluff. The clubs wouldn’t have left the ECA, nor club officials leaving their seats at UEFA, if it were a bluff.
I suppose if our revenues are going to be even closer to the very richest clubs, then that would give us a better chance of acquiring the top players. Almost every player would choose to play in London over the Northwest if we were able to pay the same wages.

If fans think they are bluffing, they are living in cloud cuckoo land. This will 100 per cent happen now. No way would clubs have come out with this, with the very possibility of being thrown out of the league, points deductions, etc if they were not going to go through with it.
The money earnt from the new super league will dwarf anything UEFA or the Prem put on the table.
Bye bye then, make sure the door doesn't hit you an the ar5e on the way out.
Does anyone old enough remember Man Utd being "missed" when they went down in the 70's, or more recently City?
No, thought not, cheerio.

how much do you think the next PL TV deal - £4.5bn last time, and being negotiated this year - will be worth under that scenario?
and how much will the next EFL deal be worth when the championship playoff can no longer be marketed as the most valuable game in football/the £100m match?
it may surprise you to know that football, and its finances, has changed a bit since the 70s.

Who cares, I couldn't give a stuff.
Give me Franny Lee and Norman Hunter knocking lumps out of one another on the 5hithole pitch at the Baseball Ground to soft ar5es like Neymar rolling around like he'd been shot any day of the week.
That’s kind of the problem. By rights, the premier league should tell them all to fack off. But they probably won’t, as the premier league won’t be as financially rewarding for them without those six clubs in it. Same in Italy with Juve, Milan and Inter, and Spain with Madrid, Barca and Atleti.
