Obviously seeding in the CL is about benefiting the biggest clubs. The ESL is about taking that unfairness and taking it to its end point.
Seeding is OK, if you’re good enough you’ll get through - under this new bulls**t you can be definitely good enough and STILL not have the chance.
That's probably the biggest takeaway from this whole debacle. They've been steadily boiling the frog of fair play for decades now, and nobody has really spoken up significantly. All they've done here is decided to jump several steps instead of doing the drip by drip over the next 10 years.
The danger is that the fan response to this gets it thrown out and we think we've won, only to find we end up in this same position a few years down the line. The CL changes that UEFA have proposed is a big step towards that.
Hell, for all we know they've pushed ahead with the Super League to make the CL changes palatable by association. To head off any possible complaints about them. I wouldn't put it past them.
