That's why it'd be great to get an ownership group with some attachment next.

Absolutely

A figurehead like Becks leading a group would be good.

It was once they had acquired enough shares and the purchase of the Irish duo did that.
The paddy’s made a hell of a lot of money.

No doubt they did VC
But would they have sold at all if their relationship with Fergie hadn't been damaged over the ownership of the horse ?
RK
Yes the club was better run before the Glazers to a degree. Sir Fergie more often than not had trouble securing funds for players though. Something he says he didn’t have with the Glazers. He covers this in more detail in his second book.

With the PLC they had to get everyone together in person to agree with the signing off of funds for a transfer.
Might be a bit different today with instant interweb connectivity via zoom etc.

Regain the trust of the fans? You never had it you cцnt. Clearly not written by him, half the spellings are English, like s instead of z in some words.
Was kind of hoping this open letter would be announcing a sale of the club

Wishful thinking Jay. The problem is it isn’t easy to sell something valued at over 3 billion.
The trust of the fans is a problem in their own making. They have never once made an effort to communicate with the fans.

BTW i'm not advocating McManus and Magnier were anything special or rueing their departure specifically. More addressing and contrasting the shared or PLC ownership to the present one.
People make mistakes and those 6 culprits made the wrong choice.
I still maintain it isn't the top 6 fault and they have been dragged into this mess by the Juve chairman and Perez
If reports are to be believed (I know, pinch of salt and all that), United and Liverpool owners & Ed were also particularly interested in pushing this.
This wasn't a mistake, it was a calculated attempt to become richer through guaranteed income, and fцck the wider consequences to everyone else.

The thing is, the English teams were actually willing to throw away a competitive advantage just to make more money. As things stand, the English sides can afford players that the likes of Barca, Juve and even Real cannot. If the Super League came about, that would level the playing field, which is precisely why those clubs want it. And if a player has a straight choice between Manchester or Madrid, they're unlikely to choose Manchester, let's be honest. So they're actually willing to weaken their own position in the footballing pecking order, just to get more money. Says it all really
The thing is, the English teams were actually willing to throw away a competitive advantage just to make more money

That baffled me also
The PL with its popularity and income has been a source of envy to the other European leagues . To me the English clubs had more to lose compared to the breakaway European clubs

I don't know if he means it or not, but if he has realised it was a mistake, what else can he say.
It's a lot better than nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are so easily forgiving. Why?!
He cares about profits, he doesn't care about football or whether Utd are a success, lack of success over the last 10 years is evidence of that.
Gary Neville stated the Old Trafford stadium is in a poor state, has been since 2005, and the Glazers will do nothing about it.
That is the most insincere letter you could read. A complete parasite.
