Scholar failed to buy success like many others

Tottenham are a sheit example for the OP. Should use another club to have a moan

Most pundits were rooting for Spurs and the praise was through gritted teeth
It was crazy to see City show more optimism, more belief, and more desire to win the game
City have never signed a player in the top 10 of highest priced transfers, cant afford it

funny enough nobody is willing to acknowledge that despite the spending Pep has won the PL with otamendi as CB or zinchenko and delph as left back.

This season we have been competitive in 4 competitions without a recognised striker but oh yeah its easy to buy players and put them on the pitch and they win.

What if they are injured for a full season KDB, Sane, Mendy, Aguero, Kompany but we still win trophies, no excuses.

I would be interested to know what we have spent in the PL era vs Spurs. I bet there isnt much in it but the trophy difference

Great article OP

Even I am getting bored with football as it stands. It cannot be fair that one or two clubs have such a massive financial advantage over the competition. All sport is supposed to be competitive. Without that it is nothing. How have the authorities allowed an oil rich country to have so much influence over the domestic game in England.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your club joined the super league for the same money grabbing reasons
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As did yours admin 5 or at least one of yours what a joker for admin of a sporting side to have alliegencies in several camps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But I am not moaning about money in the game. My team plays in Dutch league, the Dutch were massive in 70s. Look at us now, destroyed by money in game. But I am not making up excuses for being shiiiiit.

all this moaning about cities money is doing my head in.
spurs got to a final and then did nothing to deserve winning it.
when one team is favored so highly over all others the incentive to beat them should be sky high.
money gives city an advantage but it doesn't guarantee them anything. you can only play 11 men at a time.
i can be sure of one thing. leeds would have fought for every ball for 90 minutes. spurs didn't do that.

By the way it is now 4 finals in a row with no goal scored for Spurs. 3 league cups and a CL final. That is now no trophy in 13 years. That is 8 fa cup semi final defeats in a row.

Yet they have spent close to £900 million over the past five years, so clearly can.

All the money Spurs have spent has been earnt through growth of the club. All the money City have spent was just given to them via a Lottery win.

Face it fella the whole world knows where City would be without the money.

Money has no morals.

It's a professional sport run by businessmen, has been since Spurs became a PLC.

It just seems our businessmen are better at it than yours.

If money is the only answer how come Bale, who is paid significantly more than any City player (and possibly more than any 2) had so little impact on the game? Money may help get better players but it takes more than that to make a dominant team. Did money alone make Spurs first half performance so abject? Was money the reason that no Spurs attack could string more than 3 or 4 passes together?

Not at all and to pretend that money is the only answer is to be in total denial.

Then why were City absolutely sheet before the money came in and then brilliant after the money came in?

Money isn't the only answer but it's the best answer by quite some distance.

You seem to have forgotten to answer the question, why Spurs players on 70k a week plus cannot string more than 3 passes together? Why is Bale paid so much compared to a City player but so ineffectual?

Stupid question. Why does it happen to any team in the world? City couldn't string three passes together before the money came in.

LOL City went from a relegation haunted outfit to top of the tree because of money. You would have to be the village idiot not to see that.

They took out a huge loan an to build the stadium so they're relying on their own income and it's not so easy to balance those books.

I'm not surprised by this arrogant comment, Chelsea and City fans have no clue what balancing a book means, they just get bankrolled by gangsters and human rights abusers.

With their clubs doped up to their eyeballs, they don't even remember how a true football club works.

We remember only too well the bad days, goalkeepers as Centre Forwards, cheering when we actually got the ball into the opposition penalty area, the dread of what Stuart Pearce would do next. No City fan is pretending the money hasn't been fundamental to the success, as it has for every club, but there is more than just money. Spurs fans seem to pretending they are some 4th tier outfit surviving because of raffles held in nearby workplaces. They aren't, they are owned by a billionaire tax dodger, they received a record amount for a player which they then squandered, that same player is now playing for them again and made no difference whatsoever to the game at the weekend. The players are full time, highly paid professionals who simply didn't attempt to win the game until far too late.
