Think have Leicester and Chelsea have it now. Though Liverpool still have the easiest run in.

Would be nice to finish off the scousers' chances on Sunday but with it being sandwiched between the Roma games I can't see it.

Depends really. They haven’t been good for a long time and if we’re even half at it I would fancy us.

You really have to applaud Leicester. A very well run club, with excellent scouting making them punch above their financial weight and Rodgers doing a fine job. Clubs like Leicester and Atalanta in Serie A that are working their way into the elite by outperforming wealthier rivals are the perfect illustration of what was disgustingly wrong about the Super League idea.

True but the majority of his time in Europe was with a dreadful Celtic side.

They will have to get something out of three very tough fixtures in the run in though.

They will be hoping we don’t lose all the points to the dips as well. I am working on the assumption that Liverpool will get at least 12 points out of 15. And Chelsea are not going away.

By the way, the way United and Leicester are playing and looking at our respective fixture lists (with the EL semi-finals) and the fact that Leicester are mathematically less secure in the CL places, I don't think we can comfortably say we're locked in for a second place finish.

Rodgers should get MOTY. Fantastic season for Leicester if they can pull off top 4 and an FA Cup. Still a very good season even without.

6 points for Leicester will mean Liverpool need to go 100% to catch them. Surely it will be enough. Can’t see West Ham going close to 100% either.

That dreadful Celtic side were the best Celtic team in 15 years He underperformed with them year in year out in Europe undeniably.

His record in Europe with Liverpool and Leicester is mediocre too.

He will need to be more pragmatic to do better in Europe.

They've done well and they're back on track now.

United would have to crumble not to get top 4 now and I think a couple of wins gets us second. Especially if one of those wins is against Leicester. I think the Villa, Leicester, Fulham run of games should give us enough points for it so that we can concentrate on the Europa around the Liverpool and (hopefully) Wolves matches.

posted on 27/4/21

In fact, looking at the table, I think we could lose all of our remaining league games and still finish top 4.

Got to the Europa last 32 with Leicester. Not great but not a total embarrassment.

He had a poor Liverpool side in Europe too after Suarez left.

He hasn’t done well in Europe but it’s too early to label him as a bad European manager.

Scottish football is very poor. They may have been good in Scotland but in reality it was barely a championship level side.

We need one more win to guarantee it I think.

2nd could be a bit more of a struggle of Leicester pick up form

Martin O'Neill took Celtic to a UEFA Cup Final. Rangers got to one when they came down and trashed the place as well. Maybe the standard's dropped off since then?

You could make the point about Pep being poor in Europe considering the teams he's managed. Fergie used to receive the same criticism too. Doesn't stop them from being great managers.

Not saying Rodgers is on an even keel with them but he's a good manager despite the so far not so impressive record in Europe.

2015-16 - Liverpool sacked after two draws v Sion and Bordeaux in the Europa League.
2016-17- Celtic, Champions League beaten by an amateur team from Gibraltar in his first game, then bottom of their group with no wins.
2017-18 - Celtic, Champions league 3rd. 1 win, 5 defeats. Europa last 32 knocked out by Zenit again.
2018-19 - Celtic, Knocked out of Champions League qualifying by AEK Athens. 2nd in Europa (Above RB Leipzig which is a credit) Out in Last 32 v Valencia.
2020-21 - Leicester City, knocked out by Slavia Prague in Europa Last 32.

Rangers got further than Leicester....

And if Scottish sides are "championship level" then that just makes his campaigns with Liverpool and Leicester even worse.

Europe has proven to be his blind spot. It's not to say he can't do well but history suggests he won't.

I can’t see anyone catching Leicester and Chelsea now.

Leicester are too far ahead and Chelsea are in great form.

There’s just the battle for the Ropey to settle now.

....

Chelsea have a few tricky fixtures left. I can see the dips catching them. Leicester have us, Chelsea and Spurs so they can slip up again.
